TV Shows you stopped watching

Has anyone really enjoyed a show, watched many seasons of it then stopped for whatever reason?

My most recent is The Walking Dead, a show I really love but it seems to have gone downhill and therefore I have had no motivation to watch it for the past year.

I wouldn't include shows where you've watched some of the first season and then ditched it, as I think that's pretty common.

Other shows I've stopped (not all for the same reasons and some i hope to catch up on/finish):

Bates Motel
Lost
Breaking Bad
Skins (UK)
Shameless (UK & US)
Gotham
Mad Men

It seems I abandon shows quite frequently... my bad.

Bates Motel????!!!?????
That's the best show EVER!
What season did you watch up until?
I wish that show was still on.

reply

That's one of the shows I actually want to finish, I just never get around to it. I think I'm around mid-season 3. I actually really enjoyed it so need to get back into it soon!

reply

I see.
For me it's one of those shows I wish I could watch for the first time all over again so I'm a bit envious 😂
I won't give anything away but season 4 is my absolute favorite!
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Westworld
Survivor (on and off. Didn’t watch last two but this one looks ok)
The Bachelor
The Deuce
Grey’s Anatomy (after season 2)
Dancing With the Stars (last season I watched was with Kristi Yamaguchi)
Everything on Bravo except Below Deck and RHONY

reply

Ah, I should've added Greys Anatomy. I got to Season 11. I didn't enjoy it as much without Christina Yang and some of the main characters reaalllly annoy me at this point.

Sons of Anarchy, second episode of Season 6. It started off great, then the writing became a great, growing, dark, stupid Ode To The Screentime And Dubious Wonder That Is Katy Segal. I’d do her, mind you. I just don’t want to
watch her emote. Or kill Tara, drive Jax to suicide and give Jax’s sons to Skank Wendy, all of which I knew were in the offing. Nuh-uh. Bu-bye. Great while it lasted.

reply

I wish I would’ve stopped watching the sons after the Ireland season, but I watched it in its entirety. It wasn’t worth it but I did enjoy Walton Goggins character, and watching jax eat pavement. 😁skank Wendy

House of Cards
Modern Family
NCIS
But Bang Theory
Orange is the New Black
American Horror Story

reply

I would've given up on Orange is the New Black if the next season wasn't the last. The latest season was pretty bad.

Designated Survivor: Got silly and turned into a Lib Fest. Gone.

This is Us: Turned sappy, characters really irritating. Fini.

Timeless: Got sillier and sillier. Outa here.

The Good Doctor: Became boring, sappy. Pulled the plug.

Walking Dead: Watched one episode, boring. Forget it.

Supernatural
Mad Men
Criminal Minds
Dexter
Orange Is the New Black
The Blacklist
Mad Men
The Simpsons (does anyone watch this anymore?)

reply

Mr Robot after season 1, I tried a few episodes of season 2 and got fed up.

The Andy Griffith Show
Mash
Cheers
Friends

All these sitcoms are well over 200 episodes and with all of them I couldn't watch more than sixty or so episodes. The idea of sitting through every episode of one of these shows makes my skin crawl. Two hundred episodes of Barney Fife? Or Hawkeye? Or Ross? Or Sam Malone? Sure, these are wonderful sitcom characters, but even wonderful sitcom characters wear out their welcome eventually. Best to pull the plug while characters remain fresh and funny. I think for most shows the limit for how long they can remain creative and engaging is about sixty episodes. After that, an air of monotony creeps in and ruins everything. Modern classics like "Breaking Bad" and "The Wire" were about sixty episodes max. It's long enough for these great shows ... and it's long enough for any show period.

reply

I've watched all episodes of Friends way more than once, but Ross is the only thing that makes it difficult for me - he's beyond annoying.
