Stonekeeper's Autumn Game: I recommend this Mystery Movie #95 [StoneKeeper wins with The Pelican Brief (1993)]

So you guys like to play games? Here is an investigation game that can be time consuming but it's lots of fun. Basically, I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guys are going to guess, I will give a hint that CONNECTS your guess with the movie I have in mind.

Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve a love triangle.

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints, the point goes to the OP and he/she gets to start another one.

NEW RULE: Movie must have at least 9000 votes on IMDB. (I made this official for our accountant. 8999 WILL be refused. Thank you to everyone.)

Hint #1: Halloween (1978) - Thriller genre in common.
Hint #2: Chungking Express (1994) - Released in the 1990s.
Hint #3: The Devil's Advocate (1997) - Based on a novel.
Hint #4: La Femme Nikita (1990) - The main character is a woman.
Hint #5: Misery (1990) - IMDb rating is between 6.0 and 8.0.
Hint #6: Jackie Brown (1997) - Crime genre in common.

Correct answer: The Pelican Brief (1993)

Hey, I have a question. This is the 95th game, but the scoreboard adds up to 96 points. What gives?

reply

That's odd. Someone must have gave themselves extra points! It was probably an error, but I have no idea who did it or when.

reply

There is a possibility that we had two points in one game. I honestly don't remember, but we did had a few ties.

reply

That's right! There was a tie and 3 people got points from 1 round.

reply

That must be it. Now I remember, that did happen at least once. And I wasn't around for a month or two's worth of games so it probably happened a second time that I didn't witness.

reply

Draw at some point with both players awarded a point, maybe?

I'm still a bit unclear on the 'after 12 hints' rule. I'd think that the first guess after the 12 hint would be the last before the person running that game got the win. Is that correct?

reply

Yeah, that sounds right. 12 hints, then one final guess, and if it's wrong then the host wins. I'm not sure how many times that has happened thus far. I seem to recall FredBurroughs winning one or two games that way.

reply

Exactly, there is a possibility of 12 hints and 13 guess, 13th being the last one.

reply

Thanks. That's what I'd thought. Looked like this scenario might play out a few games ago and I was going to allow a 13th guess. Didn't quite get there.

Halloween (1978)

Hint added.

Chungking Express (2009)

I did a search for that and I don't see a 2009 version of it. The only result is from 1994. Should I go with that one?

reply

yep, my bad

Ok. Hint added. :)
