has anyone here ever been to peru?

i've been considering going there. i'm particularly interested in seeing machu picchu.

it's a bit pricey though. i'm wondering if anyone who has been would recommend it, or could recommend anyone that provides quality but affordable packages.

Madagascar interests me also.

lol, thanks. i'm not sure if you've ever been to filmboards, but it is a very sketchy place. the owner/admin, has been inserting a backdoor on the PCs of anyone foolish enough to use their browser add-on that links the site with imdb.

he also shares ip addresses and discusses personal info with some of the mods and his co-admin. he also reads the PMs of users.

the mods are allowed to ban users they don't like, who didn't break any rules, but at the same time reverse the bans or link bans of their friends, often deleting any posts that they or their friends don't like, that don't violate the rules.

one of his mods, twiz, was a known doxxer on the old twd board on imdb.

there is absolutely no talk of movies or tv shows, and most of the trolls aren't remotely funny or interesting. it seems to be a haven for all the most damaged souls from the old soapbox on imdb. they have to be some of the most hateful, and disturbed individuals, that i've fortunately never met.

avoid at all costs.

Someone on FB asked me to ask you who you are. So who are you, if I may be so bold as to ask?

BTW, your description of FB is accurate. I refer to it as the "Wild Wild West". But there is much more freedom of expression over there. Here the little old ladies who run the place get their panties in a twist at the drop of a hat.
I know because I've had my wrist slapped here on several occasions. That never happens over there.

Lake Titticaca sounds interesting too. Isn't it the highest lake in the world?

I highly recommend going to see Machu Picchu! It is amazing, truly one of the wonders of the world. It's the main reason
I went to South America. I also visited Rio, and Iguazu Falls which straddles the border between Brazil and Argentina.
They are a spectacular series of waterfalls!

I really can't even comprehend how they built structures that high in the mountains back in the 1500's with no wheel. As to travel companies, try Monograms and Globus. They're very reasonable, and I've traveled a lot with them.

With Globus you go with a group. Monograms does it a bit differently. A local guide meets you at the airport in each city, and shows you around. Then he takes you back to the airport, and you head for the next city.

I really don't know anything about Madagascar.

Another amazing destination I'm told is Ankor Wat in Cambodia. I will visit there in Feb.

I visited Macho Piko in the 90s. It was great. It was f'n great. You just have to beat the locals off ya trying to sell you stuff. I'm sure little has changed. It was a totally run down third world country and it felt exactly like walking around in an Indiana Jones movie. I ate all the local food and got the trots and every cliche you can imagine.

I think when we went it ended up being about 3 grand for the four of us, all in, plane tix and hotel and travel expenses everything. About two weeks. We also went to some beaches out there and all kinds of wild stuff. Felt like I was gonna die the whole time. Haha. It's wild there.
