A Little Bit Of Levity! You Wouldn’t Believe The Answer I Got When “Hey Google” Answered!
I asked “Hey Google, did you fart?” She answered “I farted but no one was in the room.”! 😱😂
shareI asked “Hey Google, did you fart?” She answered “I farted but no one was in the room.”! 😱😂
shareI just tried that. All it did was offer me a video, and then it never delivered!
shareThis is the counter top device...not the phone. My friend (who I’m staying with in Florida) just about fell off her bar stool! I have the Alexa at home. It was a spur of the moment question. “Did she really say what I heard?” I asked.😳🤣It was a hoot! We all needed a laugh after this week with Croft and his depraved action.
shareLOL! Oh! I see. I must test our girl here at home and see what Alexa says. Usually, "she" just talks gibberish while the TV is on. I seldom talk to her. She scares me and I nearly jump out of my skin when she decides to talk to nobody in particular! I must check this out further......
shareSometimes I cannot get her to shut-up! Especially when she hears her name from the tv. She just starts jabbering away. Are you aware these devices are being used in some court cases....because they are always listening....scary👂🤭
share"Usually, "she" just talks gibberish while the TV is on. [...] She scares me and I nearly jump out of my skin when she decides to talk to nobody in particular!"
😂
It all sounds very The Jetson's/2001. Until now, I'd never heard of Alexa, so it's funny to me. I do my best to keep everything as simple as possible, but have to admit some of the perks do sound appealing.
ETA: Except the bit about them/her always being listening 😨
She responds to random events, she thinks she hears Alexa in everything! Also on the kindle tablet the manual launch button for Alexa is in such a stupid place, right underneath the space bar on the keyboard! I've disabled it now.
I've yet to find it helpful in any way, irritating yes.
I disabled Siri, albeit unintentionally! Still, Siri sounds far less invasive (and also less helpful, when Alexa is helpful, that is) than Ms Alexa.
shareWhat's a countertop device? A tablet?
I don't know what Alexa or Skynet is either. Like Siri? I should use my friend Google, but probably won't.
Doesn't matter anyway, that is pretty funny! And I can do with a laugh after all this Depraved Croft Crap, so thanks!

It’s a fascinating device. You can say “Hey Google, play some big band music, etc., “What time is it?”etc. Just about anything...and I think she’s always listening...
Skynet is from the Terminator movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It centers around a character named John Conner from the future who is supposed to help save mankind from Skynet’s robots. My favorite movie of the series was “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” Robert Patrick played the most villainous character IMO of the series. A cop who was liquid steel and could shape himself into anything. Good stuff!
That sounds a bit creepy to me, always listening 😂
On the other hand, it'd be nice to have the time given to you whenever you ask, or whatever music you wanted to hear, or if s/he had farted or not! These are things we all need to *know*! 😄
That explains it. I never saw any of the Terminator movies. Not my cuppa.
You've never seen terminator??? You're blowing my brains apart😂
share😀 Nope, never have seen any of them. (There is more than one, right??) Never liked Schwarzenegger, for starters.
L😂L at...there are more than one? Can't say he's my favorite...but ya know...I am a dude😉 I've seen most of his stuff😂😂😂
shareSo ... so, *are* there more than one?? I can't tell by your post 😂
share😂 yes there are👍 the second is considered one of the best sci fi movies let alone sequels of all time...but I totally forgive your not knowing. Not because youre my buddy...but because it is so you! The girl that couldn't wait to be an adult...so she could read as late as she desired😉 it's all so adorable👍😄
shareWell there you go, not only am I not a Schwarzenegger fan, but also not a big fan of sci fi 😂
You're right, it *is* very me to not know! I am the former girl dork who couldn't wait to grow up so I could drive and not have to read with a flashlight under the covers!
That's the one! I LOVED that!!!! Undercover literature😂
shareForgot...Alexa is Amazon which I have in MS. I’m going to ask it the same question when I return home. 2nd Cataract surgery Monday the 10th...left eye.
shareI have Alexa...i have to be careful when planning crimes near the thing lol
Best wishes on Monday Lady
Those ops are very safe and routine as you know
Wish you a fast recovery:)
Thank you much also. I had new a lens put in my frame before leaving MS. It had definitely changed...now left side blurry...right side sharp. When the left eye is done there won’t be a charge to change the left lens if done within 90 days. So far out of pocket has been over a thousand...I went with the cheapest laser which medicare doesn’t pay for which was $750, then the lens change $262. Fart!Fart!Fart! I never ends!
shareThis whole medical system is absurd:(
Take a few days, recover and then please swing on by Lady
We love you here❤️
Very sweet of you. What is difficult to understand is the fact more people have trouble after the cutting/scraping of the cataract than when the laser is used. This means more costs to Medicare, but like most things that’s government run...common sense isn’t in play. My trouble is I have to have general anesthesia and be intubated which means hospital out patient. Most people are fortunate to have the procedure done at the ophthalmologist’s surgery on site.
shareWhat do you mean it's Amazon? There's some kind of device, I assume? I've got prime, but that's it.
Are you all right? You wrote about being worried about the hurricane in FL, and your husband. Hope your second cataract surgery goes well 👍
Yep, Alexa is Amazon’s device. I can say “Alexa add milk, bread, etc. to the shopping list.” I have an app on my phone which opens the shopping list. I still use sticky notes.🤷♀️

Thanks for the well wishes. Husband did okay as he stayed in a casino hotel. That area got the west side of the storm which was mild compared to the east side. Mobile, AL & Pensacola got it bad. We didn't lose power at the house thank goodness...freezer load of meat I just bought before leaving.
I have to admit that does sound handy. Except for feeling like she (?) is listening in. I'm not all that comfortable with having GPS turned on, except when I want it to be! Feels too much like a tracking device, and who wants to be tracked all the time?
So your husband did stay in the hotel, and is okay. Good! Can I assume the danger of the hurricane is over now, for you in FL? You already know I don't avoid the news, so I'm not anything near up to date. I am sorry for the folks in Mobile and Pensacola :(
We only had a little wind and rain in Central Florida. He says it’s still raining up there. I feel for those folks who are in flood areas.
shareThat's a relief. Where are you? I feel for them too 😟
shareCurrently I’m outside Orlando. Saturday will be two weeks. Probably another four weeks before I head back to MS. We live in MS across the street from the gulf. We are on piers so we don’t flood unless there’s another Katrina. I’ll be dead and gone before they have another storm like that. Camille was in ‘69 with over 200 mph winds. What Camille didn’t take Katrina did with water. You can’t fight the force of water. Our lot had a 32 ft storm surge. No wonder the whole coast looked like a bomb had been dropped on it.
shareIs your husband back with you now? Are you both safe?
Wow, I didn't realise you were that close to the gulf in MS. It is good you're on piers!
Next morning here, Cat. No, he’s in MS. I’m currently in Florida at my friend’s house waiting to have my cataract surgery Monday. I’ll be here another 3-4 weeks then head back to MS.
Is that why you're in FL, for the cataract surgery? Plus a visit with Friend of the 50-year-old phone number.
Good luck on Monday!
Yes, to the cataract surgery. We went to high school together and she was my Maid of Honor. Her husband, deceased since Nov. 2017, was Best Man.
Thanks for the good luck wishes sent to me!
Good luck with your surgery on Monday. I've been there.
shareThank you much! Appreciate the well wishes!
shareYou must have done the eye wink - comparing what your "new" eye sees to the "old" one. I was blown away by how much more colorful the world is compared to what I'd been seeing. Once I saw that I couldn't wait to get the second eye done!
shareThat I have...left eye blurry, right eye sharp with the new lens.
shareWhen you fall off a bar stool, tuck and roll, then demand to drink for free for the rest of the night.
shareCortana says "most of what I do is work related." It won't acknowledge the word at all.
shareWell, farting is work-related depending on where one does it!
shareMy dad would rip one at work then turn around and blame it on someone else...usually a woman! The misogynist!😏
shareYou're heard the expression "crop-dusting" as it relates to farting? At one of my previous office jobs it was a thing - someone walking through the office would let one go and spread it along the aisle of cubicles.
Why are we talking about farting?? 😄 🤣
Now you’ve done it! Run to tinkle! 😂😂 It all started when I told y’all about what I asked “Hey, Google” and her answer. Then you know this group...it takes on a life of its own! And, you have to admit we needed some laughs after dealing with Croft, his axe and his pitiful dog.
shareI know. Hey Google was SO funny!
Now that you've made a pit stop in the bathroom...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RUm31Rvek8
Please, no more! I can’t keep running to the bathroom. I have tears in my eyes! That has to be one of the funniest skits I’ve ever heard, especially about the thong underwear and whistling...like putting a blade of grass to your mouth and blowing to make it whistle. I lost it on that one!
This is no lie. Years ago we were returning home from the beach. My husband’s nephew was in the back seat trying to sleep off a hangover. He let one rip which was so bad, worse than sulphur, we had to pull off to the side of the road. My husband and I couldn’t get out of the car quick enough! My husband’s reply to his nephew...”My God, you’ve tinted the windows green!”
"My God, you've tinted the windows green!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Now THAT"S FUNNY! OMG. Tears, so many tears I can hardly see to type!
Me too! It was hilarious back then, except for the stink of course, and like you now I’m typing through tears. My eyes should be well lubricated for surgery Monday.
shareJust when I was calming down enough to watch the rest of my Midsomer Murders episode, here come the tears again! Yep, you'll be good for Monday!!
shareGood series. I’ve watched them all. I liked John Nettles much better than
Neil Dudgeon. The whole tenor of the show changed when his cousin? took over. Too silly at times. I’m watching the second season of Hinterland...not too fond of it. IMO it’s like watching paint dry!
I have laughed so much this evening from everyone’s comments. As I stated the OP takes us to different roads. I hope everyone who participated in my thread had as much fun as I’ve had.
“My God, you’ve tinted the windows green!” Here I go again...I’ll never get to sleep!
I'm on MM series 12 so I have a couple more seasons to go with John Nettles. I adjusted just fine to Jason Hughes as Ben Jones. We'll see how it goes with Neil Dudgeon. I liked Hinterland but it's a bit of an acquired taste. DCI Mathias's dark, brooding temperament gets tiring, but the cases keep you guessing. It's only three seasons and I thought it wrapped up well. I liked Mali Harries's performance as DI Rhys. Have you seen Shetland?
Confession - I found myself laughing all over again when I was trying to fall asleep last night! 🤣😴🤣
Laughing is good for the soul!
“Laughing is good for the soul!”
That it tis! We all in our group here needed a “bit of levity”. But, I had a difficult time falling to sleep thinking about all of our replies.
Midsommer Murders: My favorite was Sgt. Scott played by John Hopkins. I never quite adjusted to Jason Hughes who btw, shows up later in future episodes with the new Barnaby.
Richard Harrington (DCI Mathias) looked familiar. I checked...he’s in “Poldark”, as well as John Nettles & John Hopkins.
Next on viewing list is Shetland after I make it through Hinterland.
Shetland is a favorite of mine, but I've seen only through the 3rd season. The 4th isn't on my Netflix yet. Waiting...waiting...
Time to mow the lawn.
That is really what she says? No fun at all🙅♀️!
shareI have Alexa on my Fire and I guarantee her answer would be "Sorry, I don't know the answer to that question".
shareOh, shoot! I was hoping I would get the same or similar response. Then she isn’t any fun! I’m going to have to buy a “Hey, Google”! It was hoot to hear her answer!
shareMaybe she doesn't understand my accent....damn this English!
shareWell, damn! Try our sorry American English, but you won’t know which dialect to use. All you Brits mostly speak the same. In fact I have to enable subtitles to understand ye! My Garmin GPS came with a nice Btit accent so I left it there. I do get po’d at times when she starts yelling “Turn here! Next street make a u turn! Dammit I said turn here!” 😏
My dialect is Floridian, Texan and now Mississippian.
