Stonekeeper's Summer Game: I recommend THIS Mystery Movie #44: Returning Champions Come Back for More [StoneKeeper wins with TEQUILA SUNRISE]

It's time to drink away our problems and fire off some shots in the dark! These are the rules by which we operate:

So you guys like to play games? Here is an investigation game that can be time consuming but it's lots of fun. Basically, I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guys are going to guess, I will give a hint that CONNECTS your guess with the movie I have in mind.

Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve a girl being murdered.

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints, the point goes to the OP and he gets to start another one.

Let's get it on!

Hint 1: The Lion in Winter (1968) - The writer, director and stars share several Oscar wins and/or nominations between them.
Hint 2: The Quiet Man (1952) - My movie has got drama and romance.
Hint 3: Sunset Boulevard (1950) - Multiple characters find themselves in romantic entanglements.
Hint 4: Charade (1963) - The director is American.
Hint 5: Born Yesterday (1950) - Runtime under 120 minutes.
Hint 6: Before Sunrise (1995) - Made between the years 1950 and 2000.
Hint 7: Tootsie (1982) - The film itself has been nominated for at least one Oscar.
Hint 8: 9½ Weeks (1986) - Lead male actors have appeared in at least one movie with Sylvester Stallone.
Hint 9: The American President (1995) - Both movies' writers are widely regarded as all-time masters of the craft.
Hint 10: Taxi Driver (1976) - Also falls under the crime genre.
Hint 11: Phantom of the Paradise (1974) - De Palma has directed a film written by this mystery movie's writer.

StoneKeeper is certainly racking up some wins of his own with Tequila Sunrise (1988). Come to think of it, I'm thirsty.

Tequila Sunrise (1988)

That wasn't so hard, was it? A little bit of research and cross-checking never hurt anyone. Heck, a quick glance at my post history usually yields some useful info. Well done for getting the correct answer!

Yes, it's Tequila Sunrise - an overlooked gem that's teeming with atmosphere. Robert Towne writes and directs a contemporary noir that falls a little short of Chinatown status even though it still manages to weave a satisfyingly layered tale of two old friends on opposite sides of the law and the lady caught up in their dealings. Mel Gibson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell - this is a sexy, sexy movie. So much sexy this movie is. Whenever I watch it, my sex falls out. Give this one a look because Towne (along with Conrad Hall's stunning cinematography) manages to capture the essence of late-80s Los Angeles. It's a movie greater than the sum of its parts, although not in the way you might expect. Highly recommended!
