Is the PS 4 pro worth it compared to the regular PS 4?
I reckon that some of my fellow MC posters will have a qualified opinion about this! π

sharePC all the way and in every way Russell!
shareYeah, I fully agree, for my own part anyway. FPS games can only be played on a PC, imho.
My kids however have been relentlessly begging for a console and I'm slowly but surely caving in, leaving every principle I had about consoles.
I must admit though that games such as Need For Speed are excellent on a PS4 and will allow me to kick my kids asses on the family big screen tv!
You thought about the Nintendo Switch?
I mean they'll hate you for a couple of years and then on your deathbed they'll tell you that it was the most magical thing you could have done for them and how they now fully appreciate PC for gaming and Nintendo for fun.
But hey man, try the PS4 route if you fancy raising a couple of junkies stealing from you and your fine wife in a few years.
Those are, as always, excellent points, Jimmy! π
shareIf you have, or are planning on getting a 4K TV, go with PS4 Pro. If not, regular PS4 is just fine. Then get God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
shareCheers, DistantWords! ππIn other words, there's nothing gained with a pro on a regular TV? Will specifik pro games work on a regular PS4 and visa versa?
Zero Dawn looks absolutely stunning and it's definitely on my list!
You won't lose anything by having a PS4 Pro, but unless you have a 4K, you won't gain anything either as far as I know. All games enhanced for Pro will work on regular and vice versa, but you don't gain anything if you don't have a 4K TV.
Though, like I said, if you plan on getting a 4K sometime in the near future (ish), get the Pro. Otherwise save yourself $100 lol.
Unfortunately, 4K Blu-Ray discs do NOT play on PS4 Pro... Don't ask me to explain that one because I can't lol. Only throwing that out there because if you do have a 4K or plan to get one, you'll still need a 4K Blu-Ray player if you want that benefit (4K is awesome BTW lol).

Thanks again, DistantWords! It's great advice. π
shareIs the difference in picture quality in games that noticeable?.I just upgraded to a 55 inch 4k tv a few months ago.I was thinking about replacing my regular ps4 with the pro but not playing 4k blu rays was a big draw back for me.
shareIf you are choosing between them and you plan to keep it for awhile, its better to go with the Pro. Its not just the boost in resolution, many games will simply play better on it, and its better for when you do get a new TV, because its likely to be a 4k, no sense getting old tech when the new one isn't that much more.
fyi like the person above said, it doesn't have the ability to play 4k disc... so that is a reason to consider PC gaming or newer Xbox offerings.
