The Worst hairstyle you ever had
90’s bowl cut (Mushroom) back in high school
shareI never could grow long hair because it was too curly. When I was 16 or so I just let it grew and didn't cut it for months. My father said get a haircut you look like Bob Dylan. I thought it was a pretty good one liner on his part.
shareWore a natural back in the 90s😮
shareI once had the Lloyd Christmas haircut back in the 90's - I got ridiculed at school badly.
shareSorry to hear that you got ridiculed for the haircut back in the 90's, when you were in school, pop-actor.
Back in the mid to late 1960's, when I attended high school, the "in" thing was long, straight hair. A number of girls with hair like mine, or wavy, were setting their hair in big, jumbo-sized plastic rollers and sitting under the hair dryer to straighten it. I, too, did likewise, much to the distress and anger of my father. When I got out of high school, however, I stopped setting my hair in rollers and drying it under the hair dryer. The more I tried to fit in with everything and follow the styles, the more I was made fun of and ostracized, and yet, if I hadn't made any efforts to fit in, I would've been even worse off.
Years ago, however, I decided to be more accepting of my hair, and not set or dry it, which I'm glad of, although I still keep my hair long.
It was my fault mplo , I wanted the Kevin Costner Bodyguard haircut. It did not turn out that way.
I remember them calling me Stanley Ipkiss for some reason, for which was a totally different Jim Carrey character from another movie.
LOL! Do you recall the gals with curly, kinky hair (my cousin) who would have someone *iron* their hair while leaning over on an ironing board? What a shock to see for the first time!😱
shareOuch! I still remember when it was the "in" thing for girls with curly hair to iron their hair to straighten it. Ironing the hair is really terrible for it, because it destroys it.
shareOften I will answer an OP with my own take, not really answering the question.
I'm a guy with straight ash-blond hair. An old friend asked me on the phone if I still had my hair, as opposed to a lot of guys who go bald or lose a significant amount.
I told her I think I have about 90%, it's mostly still all there.
She said that was one of my things back then (junior high/HS), "your hair had flow."
So lately I've been letting it grow. For 17 years I worked in a conservative environment, and I didn't want to stand out as a rebellious hippie. Plus, at it's worst, it just looks stringy and I don't like using hair products. I'm also leery of looking like someone who doesn't realize they aren't young and "groovy" anymore.
Right now, when it's windy my hair flies everywhere. The slightest breeze pushes my hair onto my face, and I'm constantly brushing it aside. But I've been washing it daily with different shampoos, including baby shampoo, trying to keep it soft and silky.
I'm not sure if it looks good or not. Most people are too polite to say anything, and whenever I've met a woman who says they don't like men with long hair, I just figure they are close-minded.
So my current hairstyle may be the worst I've ever had, haha.
The teased/ratted beehive I had in the ‘60’s sprayed with almost a can of hairspray! Good Grief! It looked the same a week later when it was time for my weekly hair appointment! 🤦♀️ My friend remarked one morning (I worked the night shift) after I crawled out of bed “Damn, I wish my hair looked that good after getting out of bed!” I sleepily replied “It would with a can of that sticky like glue spray used on my hair week after week! An 80 mph wind may knock me over, but this hair won’t move an inch!” I think back to that time and I think my hair could be a life preserver and keep me afloat! The following photo shows the style (not me):

This is how I felt:

when I was younger and wasn't in charge of how I could style my hair. It was super long, curly and always had a fat bow right in the middle. Ages 3-9. After that, I said no more and I've worn it basically the same since. It works. I look halfway decent most days. Although in this heat, I think about shaving it off most of the time.
