Cool beans and all.

Doesn't he have his own board for this type of everyday stuff?

I think that it's great that he's giving up his salary and all, despite the fact that it looks like a morale booster for troops which might mean some sort of upcoming skirmish, but wouldn't this be best discussed away from GD as it is quite US specific and not a lot of us are from there or wish to discuss the politics of the US in an everyday board such as this one.

reply

I posted it on the Trump board also, but this place gets WAY more traffic. And I don't post politics "everyday", just occasionally.

😎

reply

I'm not complaining, just stating that if everyone was to post politics from their regions then it would be a stuffy old place in GD.

reply

Politics "from their regions"?? What is that supposed to mean? And btw, political discussions do not tend to be stuffy.
They tend to generated spirited debate.

😎

reply

If you mean they tend to be divisive then you are correct MMC.

Wanna talk about why Michael Moore is the best documentary maker in the world on GD?

That generates discussion.

What about Alex Jones or Samantha Bee?

There's other corners of the Internet where people go just for that type of discussion.

Let's leave Pizzagate and Obama's Long form birth certificate with them.

Or there is always (((Facebook))).

reply

What does "politics from their region" mean?

😎

reply

Outside of the US.

There's a lot of people from there you know - most people in fact.

reply

Okay, that's what I thought you meant, but I wanted to know for sure. And yes of course there are a lot of people from outside the US, but the majority of posters here are from the US. And besides, since the US is the only major superpower in the world, most people are at least causally interested. And if they're not, who cares?

Where are you from?

😎

reply

BTW, ya do sound kind of like you're complaining, but that's okay. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

😎

reply

I may sound like I'm complaining MMC but it beats sounding like a whiny bitch looking for attention.

Any other backhanded compliments you'd like to pass along (I'll make them complimentary, don't you worry)?

reply

...a whiny bitch looking for attention.

Amen.

reply

So now you're accusing me of sounding like a whiny bitch looking for attention? You're the one who sounds like a whiny bitch. So you can take that statement, and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

😎

reply

Make another thread about it MMC or crack open another bottle.

I'm easy either way.

reply

You are a nasty turd, aren't you?

😎

reply

"If you're gonna be a turd - be a nasty one!"

That's my motto 😎

reply

That's a good motto. Is the second part to be a cowardly turd?

😎

reply

You seem to be using that word an awful lot in this past hour MMC.

Are you projecting?

reply

Nope. Just trying to understand why someone would be either so cowardly or so ashamed (or both) that he won't admit what country he's from. Must be a really bad shit hole.

😎

reply

It either must be or you've lost your edge MMC.

I'm happy with whatever choice you choose from the above.

reply

That response makes absolutely no sense, Jimmy.

😎

reply

To you, perhaps.

I'm happy with you thinking I'm from a shithole country or that you have lost your edge.

Your pick, as I said - I'm happy either way!

reply

You're still not making any sense. I just wondered if you refused to tell me your country because it was a shit hole. If it's not, tell me about it.

And WTF do mean by "I've lost my edge."?? WTF is that supposed to mean?? You're not making any sense at all.

😎

reply

Do you think you've lost your edge?

If you don't then I guess I live in a shithole country.

If you haven't lost your edge then I guess I don't.

Seems simple to me!

reply

I have no friggin' clue what you're talking about when you mention "edges". You're babbling now, and not making any sense.

😎

reply

I think the rum is working well!

Read this again tomorrow and we'll see if it looks any different.

reply

You're still not making any sense. This has now officially become the dumbest conversation I've ever had the misfortune to be involved in. And it's the biggest waste of my time in recent memory.

Okay, you WIN, moron! Don't tell me. I don't even care anymore.

Bye.

😎

reply

See you tomorrow MMC.

Don't forget the back-up beers in the fridge!

reply

All I wanted to do was report something nice President Trump did. I didn't expect people to whine and complain about it.

😎

reply

Fancy making threads about how many scoops of ice-cream he likes or what his favourite colour is?

You are right, he has done something nice and that should be celebrated.

Just not on GD I shouldn't think unless it is a stand out story which is worthy of note.

Have you tried Politics as well?

reply

Now you're being sarcastic, Jimmy. And still too cowardly to admit where you're from?
What's the matter, is it a shit hole or something?

😎

reply

Yer man Trump doesn't seem to think so.

Is it Alzheimer's or just the booze MMC?

reply

So why don't you tell me, coward? So what's it with you, drugs?

😎

reply

Can you explain my obligations to tell you squat MMC?

Normally I'm happy to share anything with anyone but having to repeat it, on demand?

Sounds like you have small man syndrome tonight.

reply

You're under no obligation to tell me or anyone else anything, but you're the one who started this debate, and then turned nasty on me. I just want to know who I'm debating, and why he's gotten so nasty.

I didn't ask for any personal details. I just asked what country you're from.
I'm from the USA, and proud of it. You should be proud of where you're from also. I don't understand why you're not, and why you're hiding this simple information.

And WTF do you mean by "small man syndrome"?

😎

reply

I just want to know who I'm debating, and why he's gotten so nasty.

I'm unaware of any nastiness between us MMC and you know who you are debating as much as anyone can know about strangers on the Internet.

I do think we have differing opinions on what to be proud of. Being born somewhere isn't something I rank in my achievements list. Sure some places have more opportunities and offer abilities other places don't but that's luck more than anything.

"Small man syndrome" refers to a push for power grabbing due to inadequacies with stature. Check out the following link for a bit more depth on the meaning: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_complex

reply

You certainly DID get nasty. If you think you didn't, then either you're delusional, or you have a very short memory.

One good example is when you suggested I have "small man syndrome". That was a nasty crack. And BTW, I'm 6' 1". But I'm not going to list that as a great achievement, because I would be chastised for it. I just wanted to let you know that your nasty and snide comment was incorrect.

So are YOU suffering from "Small Man Syndrome"? That's a second alternative that we need to explore now. I would never have thought of that, but YOU brought it up. So maybe you're projecting your own insecurity with your lack of height.

😎

reply

Sure, let's accept that I'm the one projecting and that I'm the one with small man syndrome.

You did say that I was complaining after all and that everyone is entitled to their opinion and so I'll offer you that same olive branch.

Now that we've established that I'm the one with small man syndrome how do you propose we forward the conversation from this point forward MMC?

reply

I didn't say you had SMS. I just returned your accusation with one of my own. Frankly I don't care if you have that or any other syndrome. I just want to know where you're from, and why you won't tell me.

As to how we forward this conversation, that's simple. Just tell me where you're from. Then I'll say "Okay. cool." and we can end this farcical discussion.

😎

reply

If you can provide a reasonable explanation as to my place of origin being of importance to the OP then I shall happily comply MMC.

I just need to know the relevance and context for it.

reply

And you also sound like a coward because you won't say where you're from.

😎

reply

I'm from Earth, and you space cadet, where are you from?

reply

Still too cowardly to admit where you're from eh? Must be ashamed of it, coward.

😎

reply

You know where I'm from.

It's not my fault that you can't keep up MMC.

reply

No I don't. If I did, I wouldn't ask. Duh! So do you keep a detailed list of where people are from?

Be proud of your country, even if it's a shit hole! Tell me what it is, and why it's great,

😎

reply

You think I'm proud of the situation I was born into?

I take pride in my achievements, not from the cards I was dealt at birth.

Next you're going to tell me you're proud of your skin tone, gender, sexuality and handedness and to hell with everyone who is different from you.

reply

I have no clue. What situation were you born into?

It doesn't matter the hand you were dealt at birth, it matters what you do with it. If you were born in bad circumstances, and rose above it, you should be proud of that.

Did you know that Christy Brown was born with cerebral palsy to a large poor Irish family? They all thought he was an idiot. Eventually he matures into a famous and cantankerous artist who uses his dexterous left foot to write and paint. This was chronicled in the film "My Left Foot".

He was dealt a very bad hand, and rose above it. Were you dealt a worse hand than that?

So why are you ashamed to admit what country you're from? I'm not going to judge you on that. I want to know what your perspective is.

And don't put words in my mouth.

😎

reply

By hand I was dealt at birth I'm promoting the fact that I had no decision in the circumstances of my existence or where in the universe it started and therefore have nothing to be proud of due to that fact.

If you are proud of wherever you were born then I'm happy for you - I just don't think being born somewhere is much of an achievement in and of itself.

What someone does beyond that is the makings of loves and losses to be proud of.

reply

Did I say that where you or I were born was an achievement? No. I did not.
I said that I was proud of my country, and you should be too.

I just don't understand why you won't tell me. The only logical explanation
I can think of is you're ashamed of it. So tell me, and prove me wrong. What's the big secret?

😎

reply

No, I'm happy for you to stake claim that I'm from a shithole country if that's what you want.

As for pride, as I said I'm happy to have some for my personal achievements but as for where I was born and all of the achievements of others which led my circumstances being as they were - I don't think pride is the right attitude to have as it categorises other countries into classes which creates inadequacies and inequalities for others who also had no say in their existence and that feels unfair to me.

reply

Okay, I withdraw the suggestion that you MIGHT be from a shit hole country. So we've discarded that theory. Happy now?

And what WTF kind of nonsense are you babbling about now? You're now so far into the weeds I'm beginning to wonder if you're a bit unhinged.

Why don't you just tell me where you're from? I'll say "Okay, cool."
And we can end this ridiculous marathon, and we can go our separate ways.

😎

reply

You either know where I'm from or you have forgotten.

I've made no secret of it in the past and plenty here are well aware of it (Including you!).

On this occasion I'm just unsure as to how it pertains to the OP is all MMC.

reply

very true, no one wants to talk about Brexit.

reply

What's Brexit?

reply

Seriously? Brexit was The UK leaving The European Union. Many in the UK thought it was a very bad idea. Just as Democrats think the US leaving the Paris Climate Agreement was bad. Or moving the US Embassy to Israel to Jerusalem.

reply

That's awesome, although the $400k figure is wrong:
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-salary-military-cemeteries/

Analysis

There were two immediate problems with this set of claims. First, President Trump could not possibly donate his entire $400,000 annual salary for 2018 for the purpose of rebuilding military cemeteries, because he has already donated the first quarter’s worth of that salary to the Department of Veterans Affairs for an entirely separate initiative. So he only had three-quarters of his salary left to distribute, a mathematical fact that undermines the credibility of these claims.

Second, the social media posts and articles making this claim were very thinly sourced, to say the least. Neither the viral Facebook post nor meme that we highlighted above cited any source, and the three news articles we mentioned all relied on the two tweets from Charlie Kirk and Mark Simone.

Kirk’s tweet cited no source whatsoever. Simone claimed that the information came from a White House β€œspending report” sent to Congress, which he asserted contained the following statement: β€œInstead of taking his salary, Trump donated all $400,000 to the Department of the Interior where it will be used for construction and repair needs at military cemeteries!”

Simone did not include a link to that report in his tweet, and neither he nor Kirk responded to our requests for clarification or documentation.

The White House did send a somewhat related report to Congress a month before these claims emerged online. The White House Office’s Annual Report to Congress on White House Personnel lists the names, titles and salaries of White House employees, and the 2018 report, published on 29 June, made no mention of President Trump’s salary, nor his donations from that salary.

More to be posted...

reply

Furthermore, we did not find the quotation that Simone included in his tweet in any official White House document or report to Congress. We did, however, find it in several online postings from the summer of 2017. As posted to the web site MyCrazyEmail.net on 25 July 2017, the message typically read as follows:

The Trump administration released their annual report to Congress on White House Office Personnel. It includes the name, status, salary and position title of all 377 White House employees. The report also said that Trump decided not to take a dime of his salary, instead he donated it to an amazing cause.

… It’s what the report said Trump did with this salary that has everyone talking!

Instead of taking his salary, Trump donated all $400,000 to the Department of the Interior where it will be used for construction and repair needs at military cemeteries! AMAZING! It’s so great to have a President who loves our brave military men and women so much! Oh, and where’s the media coverage of this? Oh that’s right, they don’t cover anything good that the President does.

So the claim that Trump donated his entire $400,000 annual salary for rebuilding military cemeteries actually comes from online rumors posted in 2017. This means the vast majority of claims made in July and August 2018 are false on this basis alone, since they stated that Trump’s donation had happened β€œtoday.”

However, the claim was as false in 2017 as it was in 2018. As we outlined at the beginning of this article, President Trump distributed his 2017 salary in four separate chunks, to four separate projects, none of which involved military cemeteries.

reply

Did the article say he donated his ENTIRE salary to this?

😎

reply

The FIRST tweet referenced in your linked article refers to him donating his entire $400,000 salary. FAKE NEWS.

HOWEVER, KEEP IN MIND that Trump has made FAR MORE than that by using his own properties for government business, literally profiting off the taxpayers' dime.

He's also made huge money for himself and his friends with deep gouging tax cuts THAT ARE FUNDED THROUGH OVERBLOWN GOVERNMENT BORROWING, DRIVING US DEEP INTO DEBT DURING A SUPPOSED FINANCIAL BOOM.

Trump nearly doubled the borrowing of the previous fiscal year... In his first fiscal year. His borrowing is RECESSION ERA POLICY and it's insanely irresponsible.

He is creating a fake "boom" by creating more debt, and for nothing more than his own image and for the pocketbooks of him and his friends.

His salary donation is just part of his huge distraction game, and you fall for it because you're looking the other way.

reply

Whatever, dude. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with someone with TDS. If he walked on water, the headline would be "Trump Can't Swim". Bye!

😎

reply

Typical MMC cop out because he's really not interested in reading posts from people that disagree with him. He's a snowflake like that.

reply

Why do I have call of duty vibes nowπŸ€”

reply

Call of duty vibes??

😎

reply

Oh come on,you know that Donnie loves call of duty games, right?

reply

Who's Donnie? Is he a gypsy?

😎

reply

Is he?

reply

How would I know that? I don't even know who he is.

Can't let the brainwashed husks see two sides to anything. They might have to think for the first time in their lives. Instead you have this.

Do you remember the tea party protesters? I think they came off a fair bit worse seeing how they were obsessed with birther and other right wing conspiracy.

That crowd came across as generally antagonistic and unwilling to talk to Infowars, which is entirely understandable seeing how infowars is the consummate fake news site and its publisher is an absolute loon.

I'm sure if they perceived a less biased messenger, more of that crowd would have been willing to speak to the press.

reply

Yep. The morons on the Left are so brain washed they don't even know what they think. I love it when they accuse Conservative Media of fake news, and then can't come up with even one example of it. Dang! They're stupid!
As Dr. Michael Savage says, "Liberalism is a mental disease."
