I remember this one.
shareFunny but true...that turned out to be some family's house phone and they were driven mad by idiot kids calling all the time lol
I'm sure the family in question didn't find it very funny but still...pretty amusing😁
I wonder if that's what started the era of using numbers with a 555 prefix, since that was not in use anywhere in the US.
shareAfter a bit of poking around The Google it seems this song may have had something to do with the 555 thing
Seems I was correct, that family got driven nuts by dopey young guys calling for 'Jenny' lol
An early example seems to be The Ghostbusters phone number
another good Phil Collins song

One-hit-wonders I remember:
Acker Bilk - Stranger on the Shore (a favorite of mine)
Van McCoy - The Hustle
Vicki Lawrence - The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
Minnie Ripperton - Loving You
Steam - Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye
John Fred & His Playboys - Judy in Disguise (I used to think it was Judy in the skies...)

Before the world went mad...
No way Phil Collins should be in this topic. He has several good songs to his name: "I Cannot Believe It's True", "Easy Lover", "Don't Lose My Number", and "I Don't Care Anymore" to name but a few. Also he had a hand in creating Lily Collins, who looks like she smells really good.

'Greatest Love of All'
Good one.
I loathe Christopher Cross (well, and yacht rock in general) ... but "Ride Like The Wind" is the awesomest guilty pleasure there is.
Billy Joel wrote one good song: "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me."
Ditto Jamiroquai with "Cosmic Girl."
Billy Joel is awesome
Love that dude
How could you man..?
Sorry, I dont know the Jamiroquai guy...
The song Napoleon Dynamite dances to is one of Jamiroquai's songs.
I don't know what to tell you about Joel man: my parents wouldn't stop playing him when I was growing up. "Piano Man" and "Movin' Out" were their favs (incidentally, the two songs of his I loathe the most). Plus, whenever I go into a mall or a grocery store something from Joel's catalogue, it seems, is playing.
Strangely enough, I do like Steely Dan.
I had just had to Youtube that Napoleon Dynamite dance lololol...sick moves!
Yeah i never really liked 'Dan but Joel is a big hit around here...i have at least four of his albums on vinyl
I've always enjoyed "Napoleon Dynamite."
I never dated anyone who liked Dan. Whenever I tried playing a Dan song they'd ask me what I saw in "Dad Rock." I've rarely met anyone period who liked The Dan. I'm not head over heels in love with them or anything ... but I do like them.
I'll give you this about Joel: "For The Longest Time" is alright. It's certainly no "Just The Way You Are" (the worst song ever written).
Napoleon Dynamite was a great silly movie
Really enjoyed it
'Dad Rock' i am stealing from you... That is a hilarious term 😆
I really like most of Joel...Just the Way You Are is a good one
Oh man, we will never see eye to eye on the music thing!
Good talk though man🍻
I suppose "Just the Way You Are" isn't as bad as all that. I'm just sick of hearing it. Like Tiny Tim's "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" "Just the Way" needs a makeover -- by appearing in a horror movie.
And I'm sure we can find common ground when it comes to music. My taste in music isn't exactly eclectic though I do like a lot of different things.
fair and reasonable my good man...we will eventually find an artist we both dig👍
