The Dick Van Dyke Show
MASH
The Bob Newhart Show
Wow, MASH made the first two responses. My older sister loved that show. I was too young to get most of it and I don’t see it in syndication.
I LOVED The Twilight Zone. Now, like Orwell novels it’s less like fiction and therefore too too scary.
LOVE Bob Newhart. Did you like his 80’s show set in the hotel?
Dick Van Dyke! I loved that show too. The middle American Mid Century decor is fabulous and that appeals to me.
Remember the spooky episode? The boss was in it looking through through the front door glass. It scared me so much as a kid, lol!
Drama....
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
The Wire
Comedy...
Seinfeld
All in the Family
Keeping Up Appearances
ETA: sorry i couldnt narrow it down more...i went by genre
I know, it’s hard!
I forgot about
The Kids in the Hall
The Young Ones
Strangers With Candy
Monty Python’s Flying Circus
All comedy for me!
Seinfeld came close for me but I no longer laugh. I just just mouth the dialogue along with them.
shareI guess even great things can get played out
My wife and i still drop a Seinfeld quote on each other about once a week lol!
Haha! Same goes for Led Zeppelin.
shareThis comment is especially hilarious to me because im listening to Zep in my garage right now and yes...they are amazing but ive probably played them out at this point...
Ive overplayed The Stones, Billy Joel, Zep...i really need new stuff!
Haha! That's so funny! I picture you with an 80's boom box and some cassette tapes..
I could never get sick of the Stones. Hearing them on original vinyl is so much fun. Although they all seem like creeps. Don't look too hard at your heroes.
I met Robert Plant and he was rude to me.
Got Def Leppard rocking my garage now...it is as amazing as it sounds
Ive heard that Plant is a bit of a jerk...sad!
I recently saw a very young woman wearing a Def Leopard tee shirt. I asked: you’re a Def Leopard fan? I thought she was joking with her response: am I a fan of my shirt? No, haha, of the band? She said: I didn’t know they were a band. I just like the shirt.
shareIts so silly but its true:)
A ton of the wee kids on my block are wearing rock tees now (Kiss, Maiden,ACDC, Ramones...)
They get them at Walmart...im pretty conflicted over this state of affairs!
Dammit, i earned my rock tees!!
Hahaha! And ours were bootlegs with iron ons, not Walmart junk!
shareDamn right!
My denim jacket with the gigantic Ozzy iron on patch on the back will always be a legend
I think i left it at some girls house...i think i got ripped off that time😆
My brother was arrested for rioting at a Black Sabbath concert. Someone threw a shoe at Ozzy and it hit him in the head. He walked offstage and the kids started ripping the seats out.
shareSo true !!!!!LOLLOL😂
shareI still like Seinfeld.
shareYes Minister - Yes Prime Minister (1980-87)
Dry English humour at its best.
Inspector Morse (1987-2000)
Morse. Brilliant analytical mind combined with feet of clay. Ably assisted by the perfect offsider in Lewis.
Game of Thrones (2011-19)
Yes I know that it's 80% trash but my God the other 20% is truly epic.
Going to check those out! I love British humour.
shareAmen on Inspector Morse.
sharePS I know GoT’s isn’t comedy. My neighbor is in that show.
shareI gave you my favorite comedies in an earlier comment.
My favorite dramas are:
Foyle's War
Lewis
Endeavour
I like Foyle’s War.
Good binge watching suggestions here!
Inspector Morse would be #4.
shareDid you see Stella Street? I almost fell over just now remembering it!
I have it on VHS.
No, I've never even heard of Stella Street. I looked it up. Sounds interesting, but I have no way to watch it.
shareOh man, it is so funny.
As you saw, the two guys together played everything. The brilliance to me was that their celebrityimpressions were oftentimes so over the top it added to the humour.
When I have time I’ll try to digitalise it and get it onto YouTube.
X Files
Seinfeld
I only just started getting into X Files.
shareAmazing, I hope you are watching the original X Files first, as it is fantastic. My favorite eps are the Alien Arc - I only listed two but now, I will add "Homicide- Life on the Street" as my third. The third choice was harder to pick, the first two, very easy.
shareDeadwood
The Simpsons (3-9)
The Wire
Didn’t the Simpsons evolve out of a comic strip? Or maybe Groenong just did both.
It evolved in the form of shorts on a variety show called "The Tracy Ullman Show". After the shorts became popular, it received it's own show.
During the third season, IMO, the writing on the show went to a whole new level, and it continued to get better and better. So much so, that I think seasons (3-9) may very well be the best comedy writing in television history. Combine that with the fantastic voice talents, and you have pure gold.
I remember Tracy Ullman’s show. She won a bunch of Emmys but it got cancelled anyway.
I loved the Simpsons ride at Universal.
Ab Fab!
