Hmmm. πŸ€” Misdirected shipment πŸ™„

I have a shipment coming via UPS. This morning it was 50 miles away, in my own state (MN). It was supposed to be delivered today. Although it's not a critical shipment, it is now somewhere in SD, 275+ miles away. Oops. Somebody messed up somewhere. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

reply

I would give them a call while it’s still being tracked in their system. Good luck!

reply

I'm not too worried yet, but I'll keep an eye on it tomorrow, for sure.

reply

I once had a shipment that passed through my local post office literally within one mile of me, and then spent the next 4+ days bouncing around the Los Angeles area before being delivered.

reply

It can be crazy, can't it? This is the first time I recall having an order misdirected elsewhere after it got close. Oh well. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Actually, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more. It takes only one person to screw things up.

reply

I think what happens is that it might be some kind of economy shipping, and the package is essentially hitchhiking with other packages.

Call it the scenic route, perhaps?

reply

Works for me!! It is a 'free shipping' thing.

reply

Same here! I tracked a shipment via UPS (to MS Gulf Coast)from the North, transferred to the care of the USPS in Georgia, from Georgia to the main PO on the coast then to my local PO. Goody! I’ll receive it the next day! Nope! It left my local to go back to the main PO. From there it went to New Orleans, right over my house! By then I’m on the phone to the local PO, irate 😑! He informed me it was being shipped back to the shipper up North! Somehow, some way, I finally rcvd the damn thing...looking like it had been through a war! I’ve never seen so many postage marks on a package as this one had!

BTW, I don’t like the new? shipping methods. Shipments begin with UPS then the USPS takes over...sometimes the later tracking# isn’t up to speed. OK, I see the NEW tracking# which states I’ll rcv tomorrow...but lo and behold, it’s outside my door!

reply

You have no tracking sistem there?

reply

I do. That's how I know it's in South Dakota now.

reply

They're so slow. What is deliver time schedule there?

reply

It now says it'll be delivered Monday, which is fine with me.

reply

You ordered yesterday? They always do that when you make your purchase in weekend

reply

No, I ordered on July 10th, supposedly 2-day shipping. Obviously, they screwed it up.

reply

Whoa, they seriously screwed it up big time!!

reply

Yep, but I'm thankful it wasn't anything that is time sensitive.

reply

Okay I was almost right... I was mixing this with another shipment that had gone through the Beverly Hills post office and then went elsehwere, but it was over a year ago, gimme a break!

I had posted it to my Facebook account:

The West Hollywood post office is about 3 miles away, maybe 4 at the most, and then the package bounced to around 40 miles away. I know I still didn't get the package until like 2 days after I took that screenshot.

reply

Weird, huh?? I'm just glad this isn't something critical. I don't think this has ever happened to me before. I suspect that it's more of a problem in big cities due to heavier volume. In my small city, I'm amazed that a package can arrive at the post office by 8 or 9 o'clock in the morning and they still manage to deliver it the same day. I doubt that would happen if I lived in the major metro area where I lived before.

My son ordered a huge tv from Amazon and received a message from the courier Hermes saying it had been delivered (don't even get me started on Hermes πŸ˜’πŸ˜ πŸ˜‘), needless to say it hadn't been.
Then started the process of trying to get Amazon find it, were we sure there wasn't a six foot box anywhere around the property? Had we checked the porch? Phoned the courier who denied it was on their list to start with, in the end I had to join a Facebook group to get help, it eventually turned up at about 8 pm. I was told by the Fb group that the delivery drivers get paid by delivery so will often mark something as delivered even though it isn't, especially if they run out of time.A little unethical.
Makes a mockery of being able to track your packages really.

reply

UPS tracking today said, "We've incorrectly sorted this package which may cause a delay." Duh. It also said that it was out for delivery in Mitchell, SD. Nice. Of course that means it won't head here today because it's sitting in a delivery van until the end of the driver's route. Glad it's not something critical.

reply

Long ago in one of the law firms I worked for, this happened, it was on the wrong route but it was still local. It was a critical piece of mail, so I had to arrange to meet the driver on his route and receive it.

LOL! I'll be interested to hear my package's experiences!
