Stonekeeper's Vacation Game: Guess a movie #6: Get in the Mix

I solved hownos' number 5, so let's jive.

Here is Stonekeeper's explanation for newcomers:

So you guys like to play games? This is my favorite one that we use to play on Imdb. It's a investigating game that can be time consuming but it's lots of fun. Basically, I have a movie in mind and you have to guess movies. For each movies you guys are going to guess, I will give a hint that connects the two movies. Example: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve a girl being murdered. The winner of the game can either start a new one after or say "pass" and I will do it.
After 12 hints, the original poster gets the point and also get to do another one.

For every movie you guess, I will give you additional hint. After 12 hints, the dealer wins. Let's get it on!

UPDATE: Twelve hints later, and no one has guessed the correct film so far. The correct answer is A New Leaf (1971). If you haven't seen it, go ahead and treat yourself to a pleasant romantic comedy.

Hint 1: The Godfather (1972) - John Cazale did not appear in this movie! (Not necessarily a movie that was nominated for best picture)
Hint 2: The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Directed by someone who was nominated for an Academy Award in writing. (Elaine May)
Hint 3: Manhattan (1979) - Woody Allen worked with the lead female actress of this film in the 1990s. (Elaine May in Small Time Crooks)
Hint 4: Dreamgirls (2006) - Both of these films received Golden Globe nominations. (Dreamgirls also won some)
Hint 5: The Blob (1988) - The directors of both these films have worked with John Travolta. (Travolta has worked with Chuck Russell in I Am Wrath and Elaine May in Primary Colors)
Hint 6: Apocalypse Now (1979) - The Redux version of AN is over an hour and a half longer than this movie's final runtime. (Yup)
Hint 7: Pulp Fiction (1994) - Cars from the 1960s are prominently featured. (The male lead likes expensive cars)
Hint 8: Jackie (2016) - The story centers around a well-to-do woman. (Elaine May plays a rich woman)
Hint 9: The Graduate (1967) - One of the main actors from the mystery film in question appears in this movie. (Elaine May appeared in The Graduate)
Hint 10: Rosemary's Baby (1968) - The lead actresses in both films have the exact same number of letters in their names. (Mia Farrow and Elaine May: The numbers don't lie)
Hint 11: Dick Tracy (1990) - Warren Beatty has collaborated at least twice with both the writer and director of this film. (Ishtar and Heaven Can Wait)
Hint 12: Reds (1981) - At over 3 hours, approximately matches the runtime of the original cut of this movie. (According to the sources, the original cut of A New Leaf ran around three hours, similar to Reds)

I promise to make the seventh round easier. Thanks to everyone who played!

"Hint 1: The Godfather (1972) - John Cazale did not appear in this movie!"

John Cazale did appear in The Godfather, so this doesn't work as a hint. The idea is that the hint you give uses a commonality between the movie you're thinking of and the movie someone guessed. So if John Cazale WAS in the movie you're thinking of, then you could use him as a hint with The Godfather.

So, what you're saying is that no one can use a negative as a clue (even though previous posts have done it before).

reply

It doesn't narrow it down a great deal may have been his point.

Very well...

Good point.

Negatives ARE accepted but more in the sense of : also has NO Oscar nomination or Does not go over 2 hours lenght...

I just noticed that my explanation could be better and I will arrange it on my next time I post but seriously, at this point, you should understand .

For now, you can guess a movie title and wait for the OP to post a hint which is a connection that the movie you guesse and the one he has in mind share.

Get it?

Guess a movie title?
