Mr. Mister.

What are the thoughts on this 1980s American pop-rock band, fronted by lead vocalist Richard Page, mostly responsible and well known for such hits as "Broken Wings" (my favorite one by them, and yes its quite good!) and "Kyrie"?

Me, as much as overall I think they're nothing too special, I do appreciate some of their songs and as you probably have guessed, although I have lost count on how many times I've heard it, "Broken Wings" is my favorite song by them, they still play it quite a lot on the radio even today over 30 years later since its release (interestingly enough, Richard Paige was already 31/32 years old when the song was released) but its so damn catchy and still listenable after all this time and it is a little syrupy and over-produced, but a solid nonetheless mix of REO-Speedwagon, Bryan Ferry, The Cars and Simple Minds.

In fact I will post 3 links to the song, one to present the video and the other 2 for the extended versions of it:

If you treat the song as an almost above par sub-variety of Duran Duran and Modern Talking, but with more creativity at its helm, its a hell of a ride and has more to it than disposable pop and soft rock of such variety has to offer.

P.S. One of the band's drummers, Pat Mastelotto, later in the 90s joined as a drummer the legendary and famous British progressive rock band King Crimson, as amazing as it may sound.

Their 4th album, Pull, had Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin as a guest.

Still looking for an affordable copy.

I like Broken Wings and Kyrie, but I have to admit I think they're the typical cheesy 80s pop rock band. And I will forever associate them with furniture malls in the early 90s. For some reason they always played Mr. Mister and Toto there. Oh, and White Snake!

reply

Mr. Mister, Toto and White Snake sound like proper music for a sofa and coffee table buying binge...

Now i want to ride out to IKEA!

reply

It's only ABBA over there!

reply

Am i endangering my Metal rep by admitting i dig ABBA😳

reply

Yes, it totally means you're a Dancing Queen!👠

reply

Im pretty sure i cant rock the heels like you but i sure can dance!

reply

In heels or no-go, buddy!

reply

I guess im Dancing With Myself again...💃🏻

Its cool...im hot enough for the both of us😙

reply

Can I watch?

reply

I assumed you were watching the whole time...
Thats why i keep flexing and doing the James Dean pouty face every two minutes!

reply

Dang, what did I miss?! I'll be over in 5 minutes!

reply

But im headed to IKEA to buy an entertainment center that will be impossible to put together!

Its very hard to drive in these heels by the way!
Thanks a lot:(

reply

Watching you trying to put together an entertainment center in heels is going to be so hot!

reply

Im jealous...i really am super hot⚡️🔥☀️

reply

Just hurry home, I'm already peeking through your livingroom window!

reply

The spare key is under the mat...let yourself in sweetie

Im gonna need a hand building this IKEA stuff...

Liquor cabinet is full
Help yourself!

reply

Ask your wife for a hand, that'll even be hotter!

reply

Ha!!
How did I miss this 2 years ago?!?

reply

Because you fell asleep! It was a very disappointing experience for me.☹

reply

😣

reply

Not really. Metal is very dramatic music as are many of the bands, a lot of ABBA's music and image is much the same just on the opposite end of the spectrum.

reply

Well stated...Good music beats most everything

reply

Where have you gone ??

reply

I recall that he mentioned applying for a good job...maybe he got it?
His headache inducing posts were the stuff of legend
He is missed

Sorry folks if I occasionally highly misbehaved or was at times TOO curious about the philosophical nature of unfair attitudes in humanity surrounding controversial topics and wondering why they exist and what makes them possible even if of course in pure fantasy sense (as opposed to the well known common harsh reality) I wasn't agreeing with it all EITHER.

Or the fact that I being a 30s gentlemen often went on a lot about moments from my teenaged past or recent INTERNET past of various unfortunate varieties, although of course no offense was intended and I at times also wanted to vent my frustrations here and there, plus the fact that some of those other aspects, unlike today on the internet, were often never spoke about in that way hence why at times I also felt the need to express my SURPRISE at witnessing things here and there.

And talks of cultures. And movie-related tropes. And a few misunderstandings here and there including ones of OTHER PEOPLE. And even theories and philosophies surrounding law and order in humanity.

But I'm sure I will now mostly move on from most of it in a positive way and nice to see you all again folks after 2 years of internet absence from this site.

My head is spinning from all of that!
