Sex is a double edged sword.

In your opinion, do you agree with that statement?

Fact of the matter is, various people stances and opinions on it aside, sex is something that we all love and want but it is also something that we fear and are afraid of when at best we just don't want it.

It can be used greatly for positivity but can also in various ways bring about negative consequences, and I don't JUST mean when it isn't consensual (let alone of course when it is forced against one's will) or underage, think about STDs and whatnot.

It brings people closer together but also can tear them apart. It gets people into trouble but also sells products and creates wonderful positive achievements, it is something for which people may get looked down on and ridiculed but also has something in it that greatly makes people more appealing to other people, sometimes to the disadvantages of those doing the appealing (especially in cases of women to men) and sometimes for the best of all.

So what makes this very special thing also something that can repel, why is it both a blessing and a curse and why is it overall so two-sided?

P.S. And even online today, it causes great debates and controversies, is there one truth behind it?

P.P.S. Imagine if everyone including women looked equally beautiful. Strap ons for instance weren't invented. And there was no such thing as AIDS and whatnot in sex. How would let's say laws on sexual matters that have that "double standard" at least theoretically attached to it would say operate, as would, well, MORALS? Who has the answers, thanks. (OK, haha, let's not get any too silly ideas, NO MATTER what we may have watched in at least CERTAIN *MOVIES*.)

Because we all know for instance that REALITY and FICTIONAL MOVIES for instance are, on more levels than one, two often very DIFFERENT things.

But what's funny is that even in certain MOVIES for instance, that had audience say grasp certain factors and assume the film was telling that something is wrong is "OK", I myself have NEVER gotten THAT impression, and the fact that say in double standard related scenarios the girl was pretty but for instance did something wrong to a guy (remember "40 Days and 40 Nights" and to a lesser extent, even if many disagreed, that train scene in "Nymphomaniac volume 1"), well, it STILL did NOT make me think that this is either acceptable or perhaps in its OWN way not as "hurtful" and therefore not wrong, in other words, I actually accepted those parts as being what they are WITHOUT either too much overthinking or over agreeing or over disagreeing, despite the inevitability of confrontational online controversy they caused, plus I am against violence in general so I don't need to worry, right?

And the law, and even morality for that matter, may choose overall NOT to discriminate here and hold everyone accountable, even IF for instance, the REALITY is that these things are often awful, and in highly RECOGNIZEABLE aspects, WAY beyond what law and morals say overall, but I know this already therefore I won't get to too many details.

But anyways, is sex a double edged sword? Thanks.

Well I look at sex as a very positive thing, because I have it, and it’s great, and you do as well , so I’m not sure what we can do

reply

❤️️ Explain it to The Man. He's the one who started this thread.
Just thinking about it is giving me a massive headache!

Exactly . Explain anything to the man. Or just go have it. That’s a good thing too

To answer my own question, almost EVERYTHING in life, give or take, is a double edged sword.

We all love food and it is a necessity to stop us from being hungry and keep us alive, but too much of it or consumption of it in the wrong ways can cause diabetes, heart attacks and other illnesses and even lead to death.

We all love water and whatnot but it can also be used to drown and kill us and cause destruction in the event of a flood or anything related.

People enjoy fighting and play fighting and boxing is a sport that has plenty of respect and admiration, but punches can often be used to hurt, humiliate, cause pain and even kill under circumstances.

Electricity is something we need in our daily lives but come into contact with it, cause a very painful death.

Cars and vehicles can be used for transportation and enjoyment of journeys and trips, but careless driving and whatnot, car accidents, comments unnecessary.

And of course most if not all human beings are a mixture of many things varieties and everyone is a saint or a sinner to some extent.

With that all in mind, it is not a surprise that sex can also fit into related categories, but because in various ways it comes attached both to and with the concept of intimacy, and can lead to pregnancies and in the most unwanted cases STDs, it IS a responsibility, but yes it is double edged sword in a related way.

A stick by the way has two ends no matter how much you chop it up. And you can make delicious food out of dead pigs and other animals too.
