Not a whole song just certain powerful lyrics that you like or mean something to you.

Sometimes the song my just ok but certain lyrics say something to you.

This lyric for me shows what the love of a family can do.

"Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name "

What are some of your favorite lyrics?

Ron Wasserman - We Need a Hero (Power Rangers)

"No, we cannot see"
"Who we are, to look to"
"No, it cannot hear"
"What is to believe in"

"If we keep dreaming of a world"
"Where all that's good so we've been told"
"We need a hero"

"If we keep dreaming of a time"
"Is all that we can find"
"We need a hero"

"We need a..."
"We need a..."

"HERO"

Nick Cave

And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you

Both to each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms

reply

you introduced me to this song. just beautiful

reply

I was just listening to it.
I can't believe I hadn't mentioned this song earlier.

reply

Cave didn't like the video apparently. Thought it was sad and depressing.

reply

I can kind of see that. It was dark. Literally dark.
With his voice being as deep and haunting as it is it's hard not to be.

Nine Inch Nails: The Beginning of the End

Down on your knees, you'll be left behind
This is the beginning
Watch what you think, they can read your mind
This is the beginning
I got my mark, see it in my eyes
This is the beginning
My reflection I don't recognize
This is the beginning

We think we climbed so high
Up all the backs we've condemned
We face our consequence
This is the beginning of the end

You wait your turn, you'll be last in line
This is the beginning
Get out the way, 'cause I'm gettin' mine
This is the beginning
God helps the ones that can help themselves
This is the beginning
May be too late as far as I can tell
This is the beginning

We think we've come so far
On all the lies we depend
We see no consequence
This is the beginning of the end

Close your eyes, close the door
You don't have to worry any more
'Cause I'll be your baby tonight

Shut the lights and shut the shade
You don't have to be afraid
'Cause I'll be your baby tonight

Well, that mockingbird's gonna sail away
We're gonna forget it

That big fat moon
Is gonna shine like a spoon
But we're gonna let it
You won't regret it....

At first when I saw the alert and read this I thought you were sending me a PM! 😄
Then I realized it was just the lyrics thread. 😞

Still a beautiful song.

A beautiful song titled Oh My Lady by The Stampeders from the 1970s

Oh, my lady
I'm alone, you'd feel your presence in the night
Oh, my lady
Through the storm I felt your fire, saw your light
Oh, my lady
I said lady, I can feel
That soon my lady will be free
And ain't it like walkin' out after the pourin' rain
To meet the morning train
Oh, my lady
There will be time for reflection and for play
Oh, my lady
Well, a darker night will dawn a brighter day
Oh, my lady
I said lady, I can feel
That soon my lady will be real
And ain't it like walkin' out after the pourin' rain
To meet the morning train
And life being what it is
She'll be round in time
And time changing like it does
Oh, won't change my mind about my lady so real
I said, my lady can feel
And ain't it like walkin' out through the pourin' rain
To meet the morning train
Oh, my lady
I said lady, I can feel
That soon my lady will be real
And ain't it like walkin' out after the pourin' rain
To meet the morning train
Well, in the morning rain
Oh, my lady

I like this song.
I've never heard of these guys before.
Canadian?

reply

They only had one song that even made it to the US charts.
That only hit 172.
Here it was called Sweet City Woman.
I was just listening to it.
I do remember that song.

I'm going to have to listen to some more of these guys.

reply

Sweet City Woman was their biggest hit. Never made it big south of the border. They were not alone in that.

reply

You have more hidden gems you're keeping secret?

reply

There are many more from the seventies.

Not too bad.
The first one sounds vaguely familiar but I can't say for sure.

Did you have a lot of albums and 45's when you were young?

Speaking of Canada, even though you guys (ahem) burned down the White House in 1814 (or so claims the Donald),
here's part of one of my all time favorite songs ...

Everlasting summer filled with ill-content
This government had us walking in chains
This isn't my turf
This ain't my season
Can't think of one good reason to remain
We worked in the sugar fields up from New Orleans
It was ever-green up until the floods
You could call it an omen
Points ya where you're goin'
Set my compass north
I got winter in my blood

Acadian driftwood
Gypsy tail wind
They call my home the land of snow
Canadian cold front movin' in
What a way to ride
Ah what a way to go

Close Your Eyes by Edward Bear

Behold the way our fine feathered friend his virtue doth parade
Thou knowest not, my dim-witted friend, the picture Thou hast made
Thy vacant brow and thy tousled hair conceal thy good intent
Thou noble, upright, true, full, sincere,
And slightly ... dopey ... gent
You're My Funny Valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart

Your looks are laughable
Un-photographable
Yet you're my Favorite Work of Art

Is your figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak,
Are you Smart?
But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine, stay
Each Day is Valentine's Day

reply

I don't know what day it is
Or if it's dark or fair
Somehow, that's just the way it is
And I don't really care

I go to this or that place
I seem alive and well
My head is just a hat place
My breast an empty shell
And I've a faded dream to sell

All alone, all at sea
Why does nobody care for me?
When there's no love to hold my love
Why is my heart so frail?
Like a ship without a sail.

Out on the ocean,
Sailors can use a chart
I'm on the ocean
Guided by just a lonely heart

Still alone, still at sea
Still there's no one to care for me
When there's no hand to hold my hand
Life is a loveless tale
For a ship without a sail

The old wound opens every time I hear Roy Orbinson’s “In Dreams”

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LZuF_ei8nsM

“A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
"Go to sleep. Everything is all right."

I close my eyes, Then I drift away
Into the magic night. I softly say
A silent prayer like dreamers do.
Then I fall asleep to dream My dreams of you.

In dreams I walk with you. In dreams I talk to you.
In dreams you're mine. All of the time we're together
In dreams, In dreams.

But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone.
I can't help it, I can't help it, if I cry.
I remember that you said goodbye.”
