White artists you've thought were black?
For years I used to think Bobby Caldwell was a black singer, I was surprised to find out that he was white, he had a big hit in the late 1970's with "What You Won't Do For Love".

shareJohnny Lang, blues phenom ! When I discovered his music, he was only 20 and really belting out some intense hits. Not only did he sound much older but also possibly black.
I just recently mentioned on another thread that one of my favorite groups from the 70s, Rare Earth, was considered to be the only black sounding white band to ever come out of Motown.
I also used to think Rare Earth was a black group myself! I was surprised to find out that they weren't.
