What is the most exotic food you have ever eaten?

When I was a teen I caught and ate a rattlesnake. Tasted kind of like chewy chicken and was rather delicious.

reply

Crocodile. Didn't care for it much.
Zebra. It was ok.
Kudo. Really liked it. Much better than deer or moose. Used to get bison a lot during the mad cow scare as it was cheaper. Like the steaks but not a fan of ground bison. I do think that yak is one of my favourite steaks.

Human.

Tasted like chicken.

Horse (tastes like goat)
Snake
Gator
Bear
Turtle
Cow tongue
Pickled Venison Heart
Escargot
Fish eyes
Squirrel
Kangaroo (Jerky)

I'll pretty much try anything that's actually food.

reply

Some hardcore eating right there!
Much respect

Lots of hunters in my family and friends,so most of these were items they let me sample. I ate the horse in the Dominican Republic, but it's fairly common to them

Fugu.

Wasn't bad.

reply

I guess snails and periwinkles. And exotic fruits like durian.

reply

those periwinkles look delicious.

reply

Honestly, they're quite tasty. A bitch to eat, though.

reply

I have memories of my grandfather eating periwinkles with a toothpick. He was a fisherman and used to bring home all kinds of weird stuff my dad told me.

Have you had jackfruit? It's has a meat-like consistency if you cook it properly.

reply

Exactly, you eat them with some kind of needle, which is a hassle because they're so small!

I've had canned jackfruit, jackfruit ice cream and jackfruit juice. Tasty.

reply

Capelin - a small fish found only on the East coast of Canada. They roll in on the beach and we would take them home in buckets. Very tasty when smoked.

reply

Smoked cod liver is also very tasty.
