She's gotten 6 fucking robocalls on her phone.

Please folks, please don't fall prey to these scum bags. I tried all afternoon to call the number (to screw with them for my own satisfaction - I have a script ready) and the line has been busy all day. They must be harvesting the ignorant. I hope none of you all were among them.

The IRS does NOT arrest anyone unless it's after a trial where a guilty verdict is rendered. The IRS does NOT call and threaten anyone (unless you're a conservative organization but that's another matter....)

FWIW, the voice is clearly a robo-voice so it's either an snake charmer or one of my ancestors in Nigeria. F them all.

May every last one of them succumb to a long and painful illness. Yes, I mean that...

Sorry to hear that Mrs. strntz had to deal with these jokers.

Google "trolling IRS scammer" for a very enjoyable series of videos made by those who recognized the scam and turned the tables.

You should play along, tell them you'll pay in cash, arrange a meeting in a private place. Then pay them with a sack of doorknobs if you know what I mean

Something similar happened to me recently. I got a call from an Indian scammer (very common), telling me I had a virus on my computer and they needed remote access. Well, after trolling for as long as I could, I called him a "Maadher chod" (Mother Fucker in Hindi).

I have yet to experience one of the scammers (knock on wood). The worst is that they so often snag elderly folks, catching them off-guard. Scum of the earth.

The most important thing to remember is that the IRS will NOT call you out of the blue. If you're in trouble with them, you'll know about it. They contact you by mail if there's a problem.
