What films have you seen that best depicted the 1970s in look and style? Made post 1980s
My first choice would be Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm (1997) All the anachronisms were spot on : toe socks, ponchos, Frank Zappa on the stereo and Nixon on the TV!
I agree with The Ice Storm. Absolutely authentic.
My picks?
Now And Then, 1995. The music and the feel of it reminds me very much of how it was in the early 70s
Starsky and Hutch, The Movie., 2004. Yes, it was a spoof, and yes, it starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. So many fans of the show gripe about it. Well, I was a big fan of the show in the 70s. I was in my early 20s and had a big thing for Paul Micheal Glazer. I loved this movie. It brought back fond memories of the 70s and my Disco days. Stiller also had all of Glazers moves down to a TEE!
S&H was outstanding! The production had a soul all it's own. I liked and enjoyed the show, but, I loved the movie. It made one feel good right thru the heart. Even the ending frame they're running thru the street firing their guns to beat the band. LOL.
& Bateman, per usual lights a movie up. He never fails.
I also thought the cameo with Soul and Glazer was a nice touch.
Of course, the true star of the movie and the show, for that matter, was the red and white Ford Torino!
Yeah I kinda liked that one, but "42" was actually a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as in something was basically wrong with the universe.
