What's your go-to movie (or movies) on a lazy Sunday afternoon?

For me it's "Octopussy," "Guardians of the Galaxy," or one of the "Thin Man" movies.

If I'm hung over, it has to be Mommy Dearest, BUT, with the John Waters commentary on! I love watching that movie with him! He said pretty much of what I think of that movie! If I'm with a few friends, it's even better!

reply

Waters commenting on a guilty pleasure of mine sounds great.

reply

If you have never watched MD with Waters, you are in for a big treat!

reply

Waters commenting on any movie I imagine would be a treat.

reply

i wasn't aware that this existed.
hearing/seeing this is now the most important thing in my life.

John Wayne movies. Stagecoach/The Searchers/Rio Bravo and so on.

reply

How about "The Quiet Man? I saw that movie on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon many times with my Wayne-obsessed old man; it was his go-to Wayne movie.

☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻Excellent choices right up there

"Why aren't you popular with the Chicago police department?"

reply

LOVE Midnight Run! Another great one for a lazy Sunday!

"Chorizo and eggs."

😏"Chorizo and eggs." ???? not bad, BUT......
"You ever had lyonnaise potatoes? They are these types of potatoes that are sautéed but then they have this onion thing added to them, and they are really, really delicious. They work well with any, uh, chicken or pork dish. You know I could set you up with lyonnaise potatoes for the rest of your life."

I know... Shut the fuck up!

reply

"Won't be havin' that thank you."

reply

"Is this moron number one? Put moron number two on the phone."

Another one that I enjoy on a long lazy afternoon would be Giant. I first saw it on such an afternoon when I was in my early 20s. Loved it back then, and after dozens of viewings, I still think it's a great go-to movie when you have a whole afternoon ahead of you.

reply

Wasn't that shot in Cinemascope? I love those old fifties movies shot in all those gimmicky aspect ratios in an attempt to get people away from their TVs and back into the theaters. The "bigness" of these movies makes them tremendous fun to surrender to on a Sunday.

reply

They were tremendous then.... Tremendous now!

Sunday afternoons beam me back to the 70s when it seemed like The Seven Ups and the Laughing Policeman were always on

reply

Growing up in the '90s it was always Bond Marathons on TBS.

reply

Platoon reminds me of a Sunday afternoon. Don't know why lol.

Resident Evil

????? Resident Evil???
Well, why not? You are only 29??? You sit there and play games. I still have to wonder if you actually work on a farm.
You do take a bit of time away from here. I'm assuming it's time to sleep.
You may also be taking a little bit of time to work in that factory you have mentioned.
In any case, what an interesting life you lead!
Seriously, croft, What is going on? How much time do you really spend working on a farm?

reply

Either back to the future or major league

reply

There are few better ways to kill a weekend afternoon than watching the "Back to the Future" trilogy.

reply

I agree. Once you start you can’t stop

reply

Major League is tomorrow, along with A League Of Our Own!
It's OPENING DAY!
