Not life & death of course but the loss of those IMDB Forums was tragic.

reply

Twas very sad indeed.

reply

I am. I have no doubt that everyone here either posted or lurked at IMDb.
At the risk of sabotaging your thread, I have a question...
Who here, isn't from the old IMDb forums?

reply

I am not.

reply

Ah Hah! I just knew that there had to be one of you around here! 😱 LOL!

reply

I'm the only one of me wherever I go, Margo!

reply

You definitely are!

reply

Thank goodness:)

Aha! Busted!

I lurked and enjoyed the banter and fun but never had an account there

reply

I did that too. I sort of stumbled on IMDb while looking for info on movies and for a while, I pretty much just lurked for nearly a year until it got to be too much for me. I wanted to join in. I just had to register.I think I joined around 2004/05. somewhere around there.

I found that place around 2011...i scoured it daily with glee

Read a lot of funny stuff and enjoyed the posters on my lunch break everyday at work...they had some good comedy and in jokes going on there
I was involved on other sites and just didnt have the time...but several of those extinct boards were comedy gold!

reply

There were some interesting trolls. There were some who really could stir the pot. Always entertaining.

reply

Yes true

The humor got a bit rough but i like the chance-taking, naughty stuff...
Some of it was great...some fell with a thud

Thats the nature of comedy posting and gabbing away though

We seem to have a bit more finesse here on MC...its like the old Jewish Alps with our silliness and i love it

*the 'Jewish Alps' btw is the name for a region of upstate New York in the Catskill Mountains where a lot of former Vaudeville stars and stand-up comics would ply their trade...comedy, music, dancing and magician shows...all for an upper level crowd that wanted shrimp cocktails, drinks and laughs...
Think of the various 'Dirty Dancing' scenes with the entertainers carousing and practicing routines...must have been great times

Sorry i missed it

The most interesting thing in this video is the audience. Notice how all of the men are in suits, and the women are all in dresses. It was a different world.

reply

Classic right there!

Yeah people really went out looking sharp back then...different world indeed

reply

I am here, looking for an old friend of mine.

reply

I was a member for more than 15 years.

reply

Yup. Signed up in 2001. This wasn't my username back then, though.

reply

That's exactly my story, too.
