This is not an exhaustive list, but it gets the ball rolling. In whom do you have thespian faith? Mine are:

Jodie Foster

Clint Eastwood

Ed Harris

Paul Bettany

reply

Anthony Hopkins, although maybe I haven't encountered one.

reply

He was terrible in Red Dragon, just my opinion.

reply

Gary Oldman
Keanu Reeves

reply

Tom Hanks

reply

Agreed.

reply

Yes
Hanks is always on point
Ive never met a person who doesnt like him and i wouldnt want to

reply

Milla Jovovich.Even though the script is bad,she do her best to give a good performance

reply

It's still a bad performance. Try to stop
obsessing.

reply

Obsessing!?! Of course, if she didn't won an bloody Oscar, she doesn't count. Why am i not surprised😒

reply

Milla Jovovich has been a love of mine since she hit it big as a 14 year old model (and I was 12 at the time, she's 2 years older than me).

reply

Tom Wilkinson...

He's incredible... Can dissapear into the role, as well as stand out with hightened performances...

reply

He really is a fabulous actor,I totally agree.

reply

Jonathan Pryce
Megan Mullaly
David Tennant
Matt Smith
Richard E Grant
Julie Walters
Al Pacino

reply

Al Pacino.... Not even in Jack and Jill? :)

reply

I've never seen it so...

reply

Good! Never do. I have much love for Pacino. I even loved Any Given Sunday. Although most people could take it or leave it. In Jack and Jill Pacino played himself so that doesn't count anyway.

reply

Daniel Day Lewis
Leonardo Dicaprio

reply

Those are the exact two names I was going to type. For me, Jack Nicholson and Christopher Walken could be added as well. Even if they're in a bad movie, they are always good, entertaining, and make the movie that much better.

reply

So true!
Damn i love Walken
Jack is tops too

reply

Spencer Tracy

reply

Alan Rickman

reply

Yes very much agree
The guy never mails it in

reply

Fine list
Great thread

I would add James Caan
He does the 'manly man in turmoil' thing better than anybody

I had an older lady who used to cut my hair, we would gab on and on as she snipped away...she was quite attractive and went to a lot of discos and partys back in the early '80s

She met Caan one night and told me he was a total gent...had a limo lined up, payed for drinks, cracked funny jokes, acted like a sport and a fun time guy the whole evening...
I always think of this when i see Caan in a movie
The guy is simply awesome in everything

reply

Hack man!
