Apparently Chinese Americans used to talk in broken English and made these phrases. Americans used to use them and even threw on a chinese accent at first. The impersonations faded away but the phrases have stayed. I read that we shouldn't use them given the historic, racist mockery.

Is this actually a thing... Is this particular PC issue being pursued in a meaningful way in the real world or at least in the media, or is it just some obscure cherry picked example of exagerrated PC behaviour so people can get all riled up about having their freedom of speach taken away?
Comedians being protested against by offended college students is a real thing, social media shaming campaigns are a real thing... But is this "Long Time No See" and "No Can Do" thing a real PC cause, or just an rare example to get enraged about or to write clickbait articles on?
I ask because I've never heard of this actually causing offence...
