Open Arms - Mariah Cary (originally done by Journey of course)
I think she nailed it. Despite all her crazys and bats in the belfry the woman nailed it!

Manfred Mann's Earth Band deserves their own special thread for this subject. Just off the top of my head, they've done phenomenal covers of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" and "For You", Bob Dylan's "Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn)" and "You Angel You", The Jam's "Going Underground", Joni Mitchell's "Banquet", and the Beatles' "Hey Bulldog" among many others!
shareSinead O'Connor - Sacrifice
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
Therapy? - Diane
Ace of Base - Cruel Summer
Love Spit Love - How Soon Is Now
No Doubt - It's My Life
I love Ace of Base's Cruel Summer, that's a really good one
shareI like it better than the original.
shareTotally, it's like more atmospheric or something. AoB really doesn't get the credit they deserve. I used to rock to All That She Wants and The Sign on a regular basis, oh and Don't Turn Around, love them
shareAlthough The Sign got kinda ruined by Stephanie's cover on Full House.π
shareThose Tanner girls just couldn't leave anything alone. I forgot about that episode until this moment.
With their band Girl Talk! And uncle Jesse was producing. Those were some heady days
shareThat one girl was either trying to be a good friend or get her to smoke, all over the place
shareGina the tramp, you mean?
Yes that's her, terrible influence, but they can't all be Kimmys
shareAnd in return for all the good influence Kimmy got verbally abused by grown man who were all living together in the same house with their own families...π
shareIt's okay, it's not like she's never going to escape that family and still all be hanging around each other 20 years later, oh wait
shareI'm so sorry for that. Don't be angry with me.π’
shareI didn't realize 'Torn' was a cover. What happened to Natalie she was so cute.
shareSeveral artists actually recorded the song before she did. She still makes music and does some acting.
This was actually the first released version of Torn, in Danish:

Baby, It's You by Smith
Originally the Shirelles and there's also a Beatles version
Shut Up and Dance With Me - Straight No Chaser (originally Walk the Moon)

Locomotion, Little Eva
Locomotion, Grand Funk Railroad
There was also a cover in the 90's....
I thought that you were done with us. What's NEW?
I like the version by Kylie Minogue.

There you go! That was the other cover I was looking for!
LOVE THIS TOO!
That was the 80s, though!
But thanks for posting.π
Grand Funk was the 70's
As long as we are at it, let's dust off Little Eva from the early 60's!

I like the Kylie song too Statego. I got that song recently on music trivia and didnβt realize that it was her singing

Kylie is great, and I have always loved Little Eva, but Grand Funk represents my High School Dances! LOL!
I've actually never heard that version before. Interesting! But I've got to go with Kylie, because I grew up with that one!
shareNot sure if this counts but I really like the version of Iβm still standing from the movie Sing. Awesome cover of an Elton John song, and used perfectly in this movie
sharePoncho and Lefty by Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard (Townes Van Zandt)
