Remember when the Internet was just a "novelty"?

I did.

reply

Remember when kids used to go outside and play all the time? Now they sit in front of a TV or on a cell phones playing games.

reply

Haha...the Internet has a profound effect on society....

reply

Oh come on! It seems every generation has a qualm with "kids these days." Our future is technology so I think it's a good things kids are so in tune with it. And yes, they still go out and play.

reply

I remember the first thing I ever ordered on the internet back in the late 90's or very early 2000's.
I was worried it would never arrive and that I got screwed.
Now I hardly ever go into a store.

reply

Haha...I was amazed when I got my first delivery from an Internet order. That was crazy stuff.

reply

Folks like you ruin shopping for us who prefer to physically see the products we buy! And there are hardly any nice shopping streets and malls anymore. Get off your lazy ass, dewey!!!

reply

Sorry girl, NOT happening.

The only store I go into is the hardware store on a regular basis. Of course the liquor store too.
I hate shopping with a passion. Last time I went into a store I was escorted out.
Most of the time I even have my groceries delivered.
If they ever started delivering booze like the GOOD old days I would never have to leave my house!

Gotta get with the times my friend.

reply

Getting with the times is ordering something that turns out to be crap and paying delivery costs anyway? It's deserted and neglected neighbourhoods because everyone stays inside all day buying everything off the internet? It's taking away other people's livelihoods? Never!!!

You are very selfish, sir!😒

reply

I've never had any problem with anything I've ever bought. Not even once.
I also research the hell out of everything I buy.
I don't buy from anything that looks suspicious.
I e-mail or call and everything has worked out for me at least.

I don't think people have enough money to stay inside all day and buy things.
That's ridiculous.
They might not be outside but it's not because of buying things.
My guess would be porn.

If I order online there is still somebody who is getting paid to get that to me.
I order my groceries on line. To accommodate this they would have to hire pickers, packers and delivery
drivers.

If you can buy something in 5 minutes instead of 2 hours I don't understand why you wouldn't.
No traffic, no lines, no wasted time.
Not everybody has that kind of time to waste.
I guess I'm selfish then.

It won't be the first time I've disappointed you.

Not even a clothing item that wasn't the right size, even though it's the same size you always wear? You're lucky!

I'm talking about people with their own businesses, it's not like they can easily switch careers. It also depresses me to see so many closed down stores all over town. Shopping isn't just getting the things you need, it's also good to get some fresh air and exercise, be among people and treat yourself.

People are hardly communicating face-to-face with each other already because they stare at their phones all day. It's not such a far-fetched idea that everyone stays inside if it's not necessary to go out anymore.

How can I forget about the disappointment of you not liking Speed. Disappointing me seems to be your purpose in life.

reply

I honestly don't buy many clothes. So that may not be a fair comparison.
I'm boring when it comes to fashion. My clothes last me forever.
The last new thing I bought was a new winter coat a few years ago.
It was from either Sears or JC Penny's I think. I hadn't bought anything from them in years.
I just made sure that if It didn't fit I would be able to take it back to the store.
Turns out it fit so all was good.

I hear you. I don't like that either. Whenever possible I buy local.
Around here there are several places that will deliver. For me it's worth the extra few bucks.
I do enjoy going the farmers market during the summer.

It's not far fetched but you can still go outside and stare at your phone.
You may not be communicating but at least you can get some air and hopefully some sun.

It's Speed. I mean come on! I was disappointed that it even exists!
It is looking that way. At least I have found my purpose in life.
So many people wonder what their purpose is.

I've found mine and I'm damn good at it.

reply

I guess I should be happy you found your purpose in life and that you're able to achieve it online from the comfort of your own home.😐

reply

It wouldn't have been possible without you!
For that I will forever be grateful.
I'm hoping I'll be able to disappoint you in ways that you've never even imagined in the future.

reply

I think that's a guarantee.

reply

I appreciate the vote of confidence.
It means a lot to me coming from you.

reply

Obviously.

reply

Oh, without a doubt.
It wasn't really that hard to disappoint somebody of your caliber once I got into it.
I'm disappointing a much higher class of people these days.
That's all because of you. I do thank you for that.

reply

"It's Speed. I mean come on! I was disappointed that it even exists!"

Wow, that's harsh.

reply

Sorry for being so honest GE.
I'll have to work at that.

reply

Honesty is good, but sometimes it hurts.

I don't remember, but did you ever say why you dislike Speed so much?

reply

It has two people in it that I have a strong dislike for.
Horrible writing and not original.

reply

Okay, I get it. I'm sure there are films I'll never watch due to who's in them. Sometimes I can overlook it, but that's rare.

reply

remember this

reply

Yep! Good ol' 56k modems....

reply

Do I ever! I had to have a second phone line installed so our usual number was available for actual phone calls. It took seemingly forever for web pages to load.

reply

It's all just a flash in the pan.

Armageddon is a comin'

We'll be back to sending letters soon enough!

reply

Yep! I sure do, you young Whippersnapper!
