Name a movie that you love that almost nobody you know has seen or cared for
It could be brilliant or silly, funny or scary...anything goes!
'Ride With the Devil' is my pick...
A quite good cast, performances were great, the bittersweet romance and brutal violence were perfectly portrayed, some of the dialogue is still with me after many years and the production values were top shelf
This is one fine forgotten beauty of a film!
See it if you can find it:)
You got one?
I just came across Jackie Brown. While not my favourite Tarantino movie, it seems to be everyone's least favourite and I definitely don't agree with that.
Also Rope. It's never near the top on anyone's list of Hitchcock movies, but it is on mine.
Agreed on Jackie Brown!
Its not T's usual style and that can be a good thing sometimes
I really enjoyed it...This one and Res Dogs i think are my faves...love his other stuff very much as well (except the sexual violence and racial slurs are off-putting for me but thats part of his weird deal i guess)
Never saw Rope...i admit i must catch up on a lot of pre-70's films (im sadly unaware of too many older greats)
Thx as always-youre tops lady!
My problem with Jackie Brown is that it's about an hour longer than it needs to be. Quentin couldn't bring himself to edit his own script. The self-editing writer's creed is, "Murder your darlings."
But that's pretty much always his problem. As much as I love Pulp Fiction, I feel that at least an half hour could be edited out and none of the story would be lost.
Shattered Glass (2003) - covers the downfall of journalist Stephen Glass who fabricated over half of his articles for The New Republic back in the 1990s.
Sounds interesting but ive never heard of it hownos...
I will certainly look into your film because i find 'the news' to be complete trash these last few years...
'If im lefty i can only watch this stuff...'
'If im repub i watch this channel only...'
Its exhausting...I personally just want the weather and scores and local crime reports (not a big demand)
Im not shocked that 'journalists' make stuff up...most of them seem to be hot ladies with long legs or dudes with way better hair hair than me
They dont even get the damn weather right anymore
Thx for the reco bud!
Richard Lester's Robin and Marian is kind of an underrated classic in my book. It's one of the first films to deal with the whole "superheroes getting old and weary" angle, and does so beautifully with a melancholy, yet heartfelt love story at its core. Both Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn do some of their best work ever in it.
In the Line of Fire is also quite a forgotten little gem. It's a genuinely solid thriller with an intriguing (if not overly original) plot, good suspense, fine performances, an appropriate amount of humor, sharp dialogue, and even a surprising amount of depth to its characters. For me, it's about as on par with other great thrillers in the 90's such as The Fugitive, Clear and Present Danger, Air Force One, Speed, Under Siege, and Die Hard with a Vengeance.
The Hellstrom Chronicle (1971). This is a quirky, but disturbing quasi-documentary about how insects might eventually take over the earth. It made me feel kind of uneasy. It's rated 7.4 on IMDB.
Youre welcome and thank you for responding:)
Youre safe to add me to the list of the uninitiated...ive never heard of it
Lucy Liu is always worth my time so ill be on the lookout!
Im assuming you meant 'bloodshed' dear Croft;)
And yes the stories are good
Band focuses on freindships forged during war...Pacific shows the dehumanizing effects of surviving a jungle hell
And speaking of 'bloodshits' some of the men do suffer from crippling dysentery so you were onto something!

The Hidden is one of the most overlooked science-fiction movies with an antagonist who fucking LOVES Ferraris EVER!! Featuring the Kyle McLaughlin, Ivonova (Claudia Christian) from Babylon 5 in a dress that showed her asscrack to FULL advantage: How the hell can you not love this movie?
Theyre very much alike
Great action
I think a lot of people are scared off by subtitles or the 'foreign' label
I have good friends who avoid subs like the plague!
Their loss:)
