Any suggestions for heartearming, extremely uplifting movies?

We are having a fine go at tackling the most disturbing stuff weve all watched on a different (and quite enjoyable) thread so maybe to cheer it up lets all mention a film we love that makes us feel good about life, other people, the future of mankind...anything along these lines would be grand!
I offer Groundhog Day: a grumpy, abusive serial asshole gets snowed in at a small dogpatch town and is forced to relive the same mundane events day after day until he learns to feel joy and love in his bitter life...
What a movie!
Feel free to share

Based on recent activity I give you The Commitments.
Great music and an extremely funny feel good movie.

reply

Man i loved that one
Im due for a rewatch and soon
Thx!

reply

I hadn't seen it 20 years until a couple days ago.
What a great movie.

So I didn't really pay attention to the heartwarming part of this post.
I will the ones that always make me feel good about life.

It's a Wonderful Life-you matter
Elf-for the season and the ending reminds me of simpler times
Little Miss Sunshine-family matters
Cinema Paradiso-friends matter
Walter Mitty-dreams matter
You Can't Take it With You- accept people for who they are
Hachi-dogs matter

Edited for the love of dogs.

reply

To be frank this is a wonderful list of films
All great stuff...Gluten free id say!
With all due respect to other posters, you really give 110%
Kudos for thinking outside the box
;)

Smart-ass begets smart-ass ! 😁

reply

Oh lets think outside the box and just admit it...Dewey is a way smarter ass than me

reply

I dunno. Your most recent comment is gonna be hard to trump in the annals of smart-assed-dom !

Thank you!

I think...

Don't hurt yourself. 😁

reply

OUCH!!

reply

Once again db, I have no idea what you're talking about.
You really need to make yourself more clear.

reply

For possibly the first time ever you literally made me LOL.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel ! So much hope for the future.
Two threads come full circle. Well done!

One more.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles- being kind always matters
Here endeth the lesson.

reply

Well lets not let our mutual affection get in the way of a proper feud:)
Lets settle this the old Irish way!
And yes, Planes... was great and very underappreciated IMHO

reply

By no means.
I still love to hate you just like you hate to love me.
This in no way compromises that.
It will always be business as usual.
Take 10 paces, turn and shoot.

reply

Well stated as usual...
And all things are balanced in the universe

reply

Never saw the original but I loved Ben Stiller’s Walter Mitty. Very inspiring movie.

reply

The original is nothing like the remake.
Just a goofy comedy.

One of the few remakes I actually liked.
Gave me chills.

Cast Away, for several reasons:

First, because of how Chuck survived his ordeal. And when reflecting after arriving home, his philosophical mantra: " I know ...tomorrow, the sun will rise; and who knows what the tide might bring in ? " That's optimism !

Second, the love between Chuck & Kelly endured powerfully & passionately.

Third, the crossroads scene in Texas at the end which effectively portrayed decision-making coupled with the "silver lining of a dark cloud. "

I could probably think of more.

Poor Wilson 😒

reply

The Audrey Tautou film Amelie. Charming, funny.

reply

Sorry to say i never saw it...she seems a rom/com and dramatic actress and im a dumbass whos into horror and action and comedy:/
But every time i see her face on a movie poster i want to kiss her
She is ridiculously cute:)

reply

Any movie made by Andy Sidaris.

reply

You have mentioned his filmography in the past R_Kane
Detectives on the edge, babes in spandex and leg warmers, high speed chases...seems like my sort of stuff
Thanks as always!

reply

Detectives and secret agents who have previously appeared in Playboy and Penthouse, and often wearing nothing at all. Plus they use a lot if remote-controlled model cars, boats, helicopters and airplanes. Andy was a genius.

reply

'Remote controlled model cars, boats...' made me giggle aloud:)
Ive seen this in other movies before...
Always love that!
AND lad mag gals in spandex
Who could ask for more?

reply

God of Cookery (1996), from Stephen Chow of Shaolin Soccer/Kung Fu Hustle fame.
