Do they still have record stores?
😎
good point
shareI was thinking the same thing.
shareActually they do. I know for a fact there's one in our city. Records are actually pretty popular these days.
share
Actually I was only kidding. I know they do. For a while it looked like vinyl records would disappear completely. But I've heard that they're making somewhat a comeback. Some audiophiles claim that you can actually get better music quality on a vinyl record as opposed to a CD.
😎
"Some audiophiles claim that you can actually get better music quality on a vinyl record as opposed to a CD."
That's what people were saying about CDs back in the 90's when I was clinging to my vinyl record albums. LOL! Everything old is new again! It's true!
Everything moves in cycles. Of course, the one problem with vinyl is that once a record gets scratched, it's basically ruined for the true audiophile.
😎
Scratched or warped from age...very sad/unplayable:(
My Revolver album is ruined now...it simply wore out
It was like a pet dying
That too.
Yes, very sad. There is some music which I only have on vinyl, so I never listen to it.
😎
lol MovieMan!
Different strokes i guess
I try to snatch them up at yardsales or online as cheap as i can find them...srsly no more than $8 or so for stuff i love
A great many are now so degraded theyre hardly worth owning...but the liner notes and cover art are usually pretty interesting
The key is pay cheap...because too many are already ruined
Oh and Crosley players really suck...ive had a couple 'cus theyre retro looking and really polished in terms of design but sound quality from the speakers and turntable lifespan are pretty terrible
I found you have to piece your system together...a pain in the ass
That's a good question. There are afew used record stores, but that's about it.
shareIt would help if you didn't want to be "highered."
I believed it's "hired" when looking for a job.
Bingo. Those pesky resume-writing skills!
Off the top of my head: If you live in Chicago, look into Music Direct. They've a great website you can check out. If you live in Boston, look into Newbury Comics, who have several stores. But do you own a turntable? Do you know how to set up a turntable? Do you have stereo system? If not, how are you going to be able to guide your customers? What skills do you have to offer? "Records" to me, and I was in high-end audio for 15 years, means "vinyl recordings." Do you own any? Do you know the difference between excellent LP companies, like Mobile Fidelity and Deutschegrammephon, and crap LP companies, like RCA? If not, how can you help your customers? Most vinyl customers will be Classical and Jazz aficionados, followed rather distantly by Baby Boom Rock 'n' Roll. Do you
have a very good working knowledge of these three musical genres, so you can make informed recommendations to your customers, and have an intelligent and stimulating conversation with them?

I do not know many of these items but I can perhaps obtain them. I will try to help my custgomers really good and I wont recommend the crap LP companies like the ones in which you said. Thank you for some good suggestionsd. What did you do in Higher end audio? Please do you have any more suggestion? I want to sell records reall good but no crap like lego or marvel t shirts or ($*$# lunch boxes, I wont sell those things. I like the vinyl recordsings like on that show. But I can make good conversations and comments about the records they wish to purchase
sharecaptain! Just a wild guess.....
English is not your first language.
Am I correct?
Well I do know English but generally I have a weird sort of PDA device with a stylist light pen that makes several typos and isnt good with grammer stuff and sucks at auto correct type things so its not fun to post because people say that I dont type good.
shareDon't worry,i have the same problem...not good with english writing, either.
shareI recommend you look at the website musicdirect.com, to familiarize yourself with quality recording (in all possible formats, including both LP and digital), and with the hardware for playing them.
shareThere's still a couple record stores where I live. Record sales have actually increased over the past few years believe it or not.
It's a shame most of the video stores are gone though.
LP sales surpassed CD sales three years ago; but most people buy their hard media online, so there are very few stores for brand-new hard media. In Boston, we have many more used record stores than new record stores.
share
They did? That's difficult for me to comprehend.
😎
I'm not surprised, actually. Most people transitioned from CDs to digital streaming and iPods and CDs fell out of favor. But vintage is sort of cool now, so vinyl is making a comeback. It'll be interesting to see how long the vinyl trend lasts.
share
Yes it will. The only thing that never changes is change itself.
😎
Thses are all really good ideas and suggestions. I watched Empire Records and it it looked like very much fun to be having there. I can sell records real good. Can I work commishion based work though? And a staff discount

I don't know, captain. The only way to find out is to apply for the job. Good luck! I think you're going to succeed.
😎
Where do you live?
You seem to know some of what you are talking about.
You just do not seem to know how to convey it.
Good luck as a record sales person!
I am in Canada. HMV which was the mall record store got out of business they are now Sunrise records. I also watched a documentary on the tv there about how Tower records is gone now. Maybe if I don't get a job in a record store I could buy a bunch and open my own kiosk which would absolutley be awesome
We used to have TRAMPS too which was a used store but they didnt hire me cause I failed the music test but its ok though
Good luck in your record "career".
Are you a TROLL????
NO!
You are ABSOLUTELY Balls Sprinkles!!!!!!
Ill edit out the balls sprinkles in case its offensive. Just something we say in some circles in this particular part of canada. I dont want a recording career, just a record store one.
shareWhy did you edit that? It was the most amusing thing that you have said so far.
I didn't suggest that you want a recording career.
If you expect to own a STORE or a BUSINESS, you had better learn how to COMMUNICATE!
It may also help you to learn about the sort of merchandise you plan on selling.
Now tell me one more time.....
TROLL????
Forget it! Balls Sprinkles is just so CUTE!
I don't buy your act.
croft does! LOL!
No need to edit Captain...that was balls out the ballsiest ball post about balls ever! That took big balls my friend
Well done!!
Balls...
Yes...i believe hes Ball Sprinkles for sure!!!
Im going to try working 'Ball Sprinkles' into a convo at work tmmrw...
Other guy: 'Hey bro you see that game last night?'
Me: 'yeah broheim, it was Ball Sprinkles dude!'
Im not sure it will go well...screw it, im all in on Ball Sprinkles!!
BallS
Balls!!!!
At Least, get it RIGHT!
I stand corrected Miss!
I may have miscounted the balls...
"I stand corrected Miss!
I may have miscounted the balls..."
I see that you came back and did do a bit of correcting.
You added an S.
Now, this conversation really makes sense.....[EYE ROLL]
That was less than helpful and not a valid response

That was less than helpful and not a valid response"
I can see that your PDA device has perked up your English.
It's good to know that there is SOMETHING that helps one in a "valid response"
You're cute!
So did you ever get a job at a record store, captain?
😎
I have a job interview during there annual christmas season fair highering! Its gonna be awsome. Just to start out then see where it goes. If it goes well I start christmas eve day.
shareYoure gonna own it buddy!
Best wishes
Tell us how it goes dude
Good luck, and please let us know how it turns out!
BTW, I don't mean to be picky, but for future consideration, the words you wanted are their and hiring.
