I agree with you.

Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road)
Lena Headey (Dredd)
Rinko Kikuchi (Pacific Rim)
Pam Grier (Pretty much anything she did in the '70s)

reply

Pam Grier is so underrated.

reply

With Mad Max and Atomic Blonde under her belt, hell even with Aeon Flux, gotta go with Charlize.

reply

Good for you.

reply

Lol I noticed this placement earlier, meant to reply to grindovermatter since he mentioned Charlize, not sure how I got it wrong!

But she and Pam are both African-American, maybe that was my confusion ;)

reply

You're so weird.

reply

Well, Charlize is African-American. She didn't even get her US citizenship until 2007, and is now a dual citizen with the US and South Africa.

Pam Grier was born in the US, so technically speaking she's just straight up American.

reply

Lol

reply

Technically, yes, but don't most black Americans prefer to be referred to as African-Americans, even if they, and their fore-bearers, were born in the States?

reply

Of course, but these words are used so vaguely. Just look at "American" itself, it technically refers to 2 continents with 35 countries total. Canadians are Americans, Venezuelans are Americans too.

How about: United States Citizen of African Heritage?

*shrug*

I knew you would say that!

Maisie Williams, Arya Stark herself

Rooney Mara, The Girl With the Dragoon Tattoo herself

Shu Qi in So Close

Jessica Chastain in The Huntsman: Winter's War ("I never miss!")

Sandahl Bergman as Valaria, Queen of Thieves in Conan the Barbarian. I was learning the art of Samurai Sword when the film was released, and she was the first truly convincing woman warrior I ever saw in a movie.

Brianna Hildebrand in Deadpool, the Negasonic Teenage Warhead herself

reply

Agree with you on Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

reply

Always,actionkamen😉

Other than some named....

+1 for Pam Grier 70s. She could kick most of the modern badasses' butts in her day

Uma Thurman, Kill Bill

Jlaw, Hunger Games (original film)

Jeanne Moreau, The Bride Wore Black

reply

That's such a great list. I'm having a hard time choosing. All actresses did a superb job. Each add their own individuality to their respective roles. I think Ripley would be my favorite because she started the trend. Carrie Ann was amazing as Trinity. Kate Beckinsale and Mila are runner ups.

I don't think she's a badass in Dallas Buyer's Club...

Wha? That Joker is more like bad while being an ass than a badass.
