My co-worker says that dry humor is my hidden talent

Deadpan or dry humor/wit[1] describes the deliberately display of a lack of or no emotion, commonly as a form of comedic delivery to contrast with the ridiculousness of the subject matter. The delivery is meant to be blunt, sarcastic, laconic, or apparently unintentional.
Dry humor is often confused with highbrow or egghead humor, because the humor in dry humor does not exist in the words or delivery. Instead, the listener must look for humor in the contradiction between words, delivery and context. Failure to include the context or to identify the contradiction results in the listener finding the dry humor unfunny. However, the term "deadpan" itself actually refers only to the method of delivery.

The difference is, your posts are always meaningless. But nice try.

reply

you absolutely have a hidden talent for dry humor, and you hide it so well, but you get baited too easily, don't go tit for tat with stupid replies, just tell people to fuck off and move on, however, I think you like that sort of thing,
BTW, why are you giving us the definition of dry or deadpan humor? we all know what it is, or did you just find out?

reply

You caught me. I DID just find that out. Lol

Thanks for the advice about that troll. But when I argue with them, humor is the last thing on my mind. I don't mess around with them. I become very serious.

reply

you should be very serious and tell them to go to the toilet and get a hold of themselves

reply

Sorry. Nothing you just wrote made any sense. Not like this is anything new to me. I have no idea why every creep and wacko feels as though they just HAVE to say something odd to me. I really wish you all would get lost or something because I'm really not interested in socializing with you.

reply

ouch, and here I am thinking you had a deadpan sense of humor, stupid me.

reply

[deleted]

yeah, I know, I felt bad for him/her, but.... a lesson learned. I have to remember that name.

reply

Sorry, this is no laughing matter. I lose all sense of humor when discussing trolls.

reply

[deleted]

I am honored that you had my post deleted, just shows it got to you. live with that.

reply

The troll claims to have put me on ignore. Not only do I consider this a badge of honor as well, I'm feeling a renewed sense of freedom on the site.

reply

I think he's gone, ding dong the troll is dead,
lol, I couldn't resist that

reply

Unfortunately, I don't think so; probably just one more temporary incarnation.

reply

maybe the next one he'll be a dog, a poodle, woof!!

reply

A cockroach would be a step up.

reply

I really believe the troll is dead, or the chameleon, actually I think we are on ignore,

reply

So in other words, you have zero sense of humor when discussing yourself, right, bennie?

reply

Bennie, Bennie, Bennie and the Socks.
Thank you Elton.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

reply

lol

reply

You know what your writing works both ways.

So you're the Steven A Wright of your office, eh?

I wasn't familiar with that comedian so I watched some YouTube videos of a couple of his stand up routines. He's funny! But to answer your question, no I don't do impromptu stand up comedy routines at work.

Usually my seriousness is construed as humor. It's hard to explain. For example, one of my coworkers recently changed her appearance. For four weeks she had the same style. Her hair is a very short Afo. Apparently she purchased 3 different wigs and alternates from wearing the wigs or her real hair. When she wears the long wigs (one is blonde), she wears tight fighting clothing with low cut tops.

So after seeing her wear the third wig, it inspired me to want to buy a wig too. So I stopped by her desk and said, "I'm going to need for you to stop wearing different wigs because it's making me want to compete with you"
And she and a couple of other coworkers started laughing.

I was very serious though and meant what I said. But they thought I was making a joke. So it's situations like that that is how my humor works.

Yes Wright is not only dead pan, but very funny.

It's funny (ironic, not ha ha) how that works. Someone once said "The best way to lie is to tell the truth unconvincingly."
