Help me find this movie! - semi-sexy 80's thriller?

Hello,

I need your help to find a movie that I saw when I was way younger. I just remember few scenes and the feeling of the movie. Please help!

Probably placed in LA in the 80's. A dude borrowed a superfancy house with a great view from a friend, the house was modernistic and the interior was purple and had a big binoculars standing in the window. The man watches a neighbour down below the house. A woman with light brown semi-long hair starts to get undressed infront of a mirror and start to dance with a yellow sony walkman in her ears, she falls on the bed and starts to touch herself, the man in the house above can't believe his eyes.

Later he finds out that the womans is hired to dance in front of him and dressed up to look like the woman who actually lived in the house. The dancing woman work in pornographic films and had that signature dance, feeling herself and SHORT BLONDE hair as her trademark. The man gets angry with his friends or something like that. But he wants to find the woman.

Something about someone who's loosing it and drives a chainsaw through a roof and someone gets buried alive and later on that was just a movie set.

Maybe a soft erotic feel to the whole movie and great 80's fashion. Please help!!!

I love you!!!

It's a great classic

It's a great movie especially the murder scene with the masonry drill.
and the weird porno music video interlude with Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
it's Brian de Palma's tribute to Alfred Hitchcock. It sort of copies the plot of Vertigo with a little Rear Window thrown in.

reply

Sorry for the late post. It's nice to see other people respected this movie.

reply

Don't listen to jpollock he knows nothing It's not Body Double, that film is basically a snuff movie and why he wants you to watch. You are describing the Tony Scott masterpiece Beverly Hills Cop 2.

Wow a new account with one reply and come out attacking. This isn't how "Saints" are supposed to act.

reply

Shut up, bennie. OP, it's Body Double, though you got some of the details wrong.

reply

Bennie? I posted a lot on imdb so I'm going to assume you mean that midget Pakistani who lives in London but thinks he is American?

Also If you keep going around in a paranoid frenzy accusing every new user of being him then this forum will continue getting zero traffic.

You're going to persist with this worn out ploy ? You just confirmed my conclusion that squirrels actually learn better from trial and error than you do.

reply

Jesus Christ! Ben has really poisoned this place with paranoia as well

You know not everyone on the internet is Ben. It's 01:30 in the UK, he is most likely tucked up in bed with his Filipino lover Mr Homobono.

reply

Not paranoia, bennie. Truth. Just give it up. And you're right; not everyone on the internet is little bennie. But it's beyond obvious YOU are. Now go FO please. Hopefully permanently.

I pity the fool.

reply

In other words, you pity yourself

Interesting bit of trivia about the film BODY DOUBLE is that the spied-upon woman is dubbed by actress Helen Shaver (rather than Deborah Shelton, who actually plays the part.)

I guess her voice betrayed she was not, in fact, a very good actress? Though she was very beautiful.

(This also happened with Andie MacDowell's first performance, in GREYSTOKE. But in that case Glenn Close supplied the voice because MacDowell had a heavy southern accent, and was playing an Englishwoman.)
