So I guess it's fair to say that Miller's Crossing is your favourite and the ladykillers your least favourite.

I actually did not like the ladykillers the first time I saw it but on rewatch I realized it was a lot of fun.

You really love them brothers more than I do! :)

Guess I need to see Hail Caesar. A bad Coen Brothers film is better than most regular movies.

Wow, No Country got a 10 from you ? I can't think of any movie I've personally ever rated that high . Don't get me wrong , I think this movie is flawed but I loved it and watched it and rewatched it to the point of obsession. I'm amazed it took this long for it to be mentioned here.

reply

I don't think people should use a 10 point scale if they aren't going to use one of the numbers. They should just call it 9 points if they are going to do it that way. It's as silly to me as having a four star scale with no four star awards or a two thumb system with no thumbs up. No offense... just my opinion.

Yeah No Country is brilliant and should be rewarded as such... there's a reason why you watched it over and over.

reply

Well, it WAS rewarded and I know why I rewatched it.

I've always struggled with this 10 point rating system. 10 implies perfection such as in the movie 10 ( 1979 ) where I think this nonsense originated and Bo Derek was considered to be a perfect physical specimen, a 10. Personally, I thought she was too skinny,

So, it's always going to be relative but if perceived intuitively and objectively, it could be a somewhat accurate barometer.

reply

I get that and many have your sentiments... I realized my tone sounded harsh and sarcastic and I probably should've replied to my own post instead of yours... but it's something that's always puzzled me. I never liked teachers that would curve things so no one could get an A... if you love a film it should get a ten and that's just my opinion.

reply

Well, we're in agreement that No Country is a helluva flick and maybe we can continue the discussion on that board someday.

reply

Definitely! Cheers.
