Happy Mother's Day!

A shout out to all you mothers out there! Have a great day!

On a related note, who is your favorite fictional mother (alive or dead)?

Off the top of my head, I'm going to say Catelyn Stark from Game of Thrones. She had her faults, but she would do anything for her children.

Mother Gothel from Tangled was also an interesting character. Definitely not a good role model, but she did dote on Rapunzel in many ways.

Irene Dunn in I Remember Mama
Barbara Stanwyck in Stella Dallas

I just watched I Remember Mama this week and she's a great choice.

The Evening Star was on cable last night and seemed like a crummy movie but it reminded me of Terms of Endearment where both Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger played memorable mothers.

If I think about any later on, I'll post about them later.

Happy Mom's Day to all fellow mothers out there as well!

I just thought of another great mother.
Jane Darwell as Ma Joad from The Grapes of Wrath
I'm going to go sit down and watch it right now.

Mothers really do a lot and I feel are really under appreciated.

I am hesitant in calling my mom today because she nags a lot and gets really mad. I just do not want to be yelled at. :(

reply

Now arvin, you go call your mother. I may get mad at you if you don't!
If she starts yelling, simply let her know that you was thinking of her and say Happy Mother's Day.
You are allowed to hang up after that.
As a mother, I'd accept that.
As a child of years gone by, I can understand your feelings.
You are better off calling to let her know that you thought of her.
If not? You may not hear the end of it.

reply

Well, there was an alternative. My sister had called me to see what I was up to and then we decided to call her together on a conference call. It went better than I expected and the mission was accomplished. :)

And yeah, the whole, if you do not miss them now, you will surely miss them when they are "gone". :'(

"And yeah, the whole, if you do not miss them now, you will surely miss them when they are "gone". :'("

Nope.... I never said that. That sounds too much like those little guilt trips I traveled way back when.
I simply called or sent flowers because I knew that it would be less of a hassle than if I didn't.

I'm glad you and your sister worked it out. I only wish I'd had that sort of buffer way back when.

WINK! Happy Mother's Day! You are a wonderful child.

Catelyn Stark may have been a great mom, but she was a pretty awful stepmom to Jon Snow.

My favorite is probably Molly Weasley. Loving and nurturing, but fierce when the situation called for it. (Just ask Bellatrix Lestrange.) Treated Harry like one of her own despite the dangers involved.

Happy Mother's Day to all MC moms! πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

Well, she thought Ned had cheated on her, which was the only reason she was mean to Jon; that still doesn't excuse her actions.

How could I have forgotten Molly Weasley? 😱
She's definitely at the top of the list, lol. Putting up with the twins must have been beyond difficult.

Kate del Castillo as Rosario in Under the Same Moon; touching bond between a young mother and her son .
