Mort Sahl

His biography is out... He's been in movies, but that's not what he's known for, but does anyone here know him? He's the best comedian ever, very influential, but in this society if you can't document it, chart it, or make a meme out of it, it's nothing... And he's still performing at 90, better than anyone out there. The only guy who came close to his tradition is Bill Hicks...

"Last Man Standing" is a great book.. There are a few great interviews, video clips, audio clips, etc. online..

I'll go one step further. If there is a woman who is a fan, contact me... I've been on strike, but this is the only exception I'll make.

I know who Mort Sahl is, but am not familiar with Bill Hicks. Sahl was THE trailblazer for improvisational comedy.

I shudder when people dismiss good comedians as clowns, jokers, idiots, or whatever - calling them silly, stupid, etc. They're convinced that anyone can do it. Obviously, they don't know that it takes intellect to be a good comedian.

I think it's changed, though.. There aren't many clever guys - they all seem to be using comedy as a weigh station to do movies, have shows, but they won't EVER really challenge authority, or be funny... Bill Burr is probably the only young guy (49) who is still good.. Stanhope's last special wasn't great, Chappelle had a decent one, but I'm reaching for straws.
