Dramas That Critique Technology/Modern-Life
If it was made in 1950, it should critique THAT period.. If it's made today, maybe it critiques the phones, dehumanization, loss of privacy, etc etc..
Especially the great movies :)

In 'Captain Fantastic' (2016) Viggo Mortensen's character raises his kids in the woods, teaching them to be hunters and philosphers, critical of capitalism, the current educational system and the modern lifestyle most people adapt to. The movie doesn't romanticize his views but also shows some dangers and problems that might come with his lifestyle of choice, but it's a much needed film imo. I especially liked the way he always told his kids the plain truth (for example regarding topics of death or sex), trusting them to be fit to cope with it, while other parents would sugar coat or lie to their own. I highly recommend this movie.
Oh and there's also the show 'Mr. Robot', which is quite brilliant. :-)
I heard about 'Captain Fantastic' and while I liked the trailer for 'Mr. Robot' - I saw the first episode, and it became a standard cop chasing show.
shareYour impression of 'Mr. Robot' couldn't be any more wrong - no offense meant. I can understand how you would come to that conclusion after the first episode, but it's something completely else, it's no procedure show. There's a tense story line, and one major aspect are Elliot's psychological problems, his delusions that make you realize that you can't really trust the story through his eyes. There's a Lynchian vibe in many scenes, and some incredible WOW moments that I haven't seen from any other show. I can't even compare it to anything, even though you can easily see a lot of 'Fight Club' in it.
Maybe I'll watch the second episode... I can see a trailer trying to be made to bring in as many demographics as they can.
Thanks.
I don't think there has been a show after 'Lost' that has made people as much speculate about what's going on and what this or that might possibly mean like 'Mr. Robot' is doing. Unfortunately the viewers have not moved here..
