Flying Cars Will Be In The Consumer Marketplace In 2020

AeroMobil, a company based in Slovakia, showed a flying car in an auto show in Monte Carlo last weekend. The car, which is a true airplane as well as a street-going vehicle, will be available for sale in 2020, priced between $1.3 and $1.6 million US. What kind of license are we going to need? Blade Runner, here we come!

reply

It's already been banned in Asia.

reply

Asia is a continent, not a nation. Which countries is Asia have forbidden flying cars, and on what grounds?

reply

I said Asia the continent, I meant ASIA THE CONTINENT.

reply

Continents don't have governments. Nations do. Except for Australia, which is both a continent and a sovereign nation.

[deleted]

So you think trolling him is appropriate then?

reply

Get it straight. I was the one being trolled, so I shut him down.

reply

Oh Jesus Christ, what a fucking delusion. Are you one of those types that just think that anyone who disagrees with you a is troll? Let's follow this chain of conversation, shall we?

You said that Asia banned it.
He said that Asia is a continent, and then asked for specific countries that banned it.
You said that Asia, "the continent" banned it.
He replied that Asia doesn't have a government.
You called him autistic.

If anyone is reading this chain, we all know which one of you two is the real troll.

reply

[deleted]

Neither. We just saw you as the troll and he stopped replying. However, troll tactic 101, accuse the other of being a troll to deflect attention off of you. Bye.

reply

Asia, the continent of Asia, got together. They decided you are the troll. Sorry.

reply

LOL

reply

You didn't shut me down, and I won't allow you to think that you did. I saw that you are a waste of my time. Goodbye.

reply

Lol

reply

It's about time.
Growing up I was promised we would all have jet packs
by now.
Where the hell is my jet pack ?

reply

I know right!
I see TV commercials about cybernetic cows, but we still do not have hovercars.
I was promised hovercars.

reply

I was promised a hoverboard :(

reply

They've been saying that since about 1952! [laugh]

reply

yup

reply

We've been promised flying cars sinse there were cars. I don't think the mass population is getting one any time soon. How would you even regulate that for city commute? Though a traffic warden with a jet pack would be pretty cool.

But, the future is here, and all that.

reply

With an initial selling price of over a million bucks, you're very right that not many people will be buying the first flying cars!

reply

The problem has almost never been engineering limitations since the 50s or so. The problem is that anything that can fly can crash either through mechanical failure (unavoidable) or pilot error (unavoidable X10).

A flying car crashing can do far more damage than any car assuming that we're only talking about *accidents*.

Imagine Achmed getting hold of one of these and flying into a school yard...

You will NEVER see any significant use of flying cars.

Edit: what I would LOVE would be to own a real 1942 Curtis P40N and fly that baby low and loud... even without the six Browning .50 caliber machine guns..

reply

Yeah you could fly over any fence or barricade into private property, into dangerous areas, you can get into all kinds of bad situations with a flying car.

reply

Yes, I agree with this. It's never been a practical idea, it would be complete chaos. It's a cool dream but it would be chaotic.

reply

I don't see how a flying car is any different than a low flying plane. After all, planes have wheels, so what's the difference?

reply

Well planes aren't allowed to fly below a certain height in populated areas for a reason.

reply

I sure wouldn't drive anything made in Slovakia. Do they even have electricity?

reply

I think they have running water; and I agree with you. The point is that a company had shown a prototype of an actual flying car at a respected auto show. Do I think that it's a good idea? No. People don't know how to drive on the ground. Flying? Hello, death. But do I think it's a significant, and dangerous, technological development? You bet I do.

reply

They do have electricity, but it's just one guy on a bicycle powered generator. But I agree, how can you trust one of the world's largest producers of cars per capita, to make a flying vehicle. It's not like they can produce anything with the quality of Ford. Oh, wait...

reply

Why flying cars? better electric cars, what do you think?

reply

I agree. I mean, flying cars are cool, but I don't know how practical they'd be. Better to invest in electric cars, for the mass market.

reply

Well,MinaVladimir,i saw recently a documentary about this subject on national geographic : one city from USA was offering an 10000$ aid for anyone who whant to buy an electric car,but the companies from the oil industry put pressure on authorities and that founding was removed. Now ,those who want to buy them ,can't do it because they are to expensive.

reply

No they won't. With all the traffic, wrecks and death on the ground, you want to throw that up in the air???

😎

reply

people can't drive on the ground, fly a car? not in a million years

reply

Well maybe a million years, but not in our lifetime.
