Lars von Trier I know by name, will have to look into him.

I saw Peter Greenaway's The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover when I was growing up and remember it being messed up for sure. Odds are that was one of the films that gave me my taste for WTF movies.

I've seen every one except Vanilla Sky. I've thought about watching this movie, but never did. I may have to check it out. Thanks.

reply

Definitely check it out. I love it. Only thing I find a bit annoying about it is the banter between Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz. It was just a little bit too fake, fast and snappy for me. Kind of reminded me of the fast and snappy banter/oneliners/comebacks from the MASH series. Most people just really don't talk like that in real life. Not many anyway lol. But they still made a cute "couple" in the movie. 😊

It's only rated 6.8 on IMDB, but the late, great Roger Ebert gave it ***. I watched the trailer, and it looks interesting.
So it's now on my Netflix list. Thanks for the heads up. I'll let you know what I think of it after I watch it.

reply

Please do. The first time I watched it, it was confusing. I didn't know if I liked it or not until the ending. Then I was like, yeah, this is something. So every time after that, I liked it more and more. 😊

reply

Thanks. I knew there was an original Spanish film, but I couldn't remember the name.
