Will we have rules for MovieChat by April 1st?

If so, are they to be trusted?

I'm easy on the cussing personally. If Jim wants to allow it then fine, if he doesn't then also fine by me. Someone suggested an automatic script which could hide/alter cusses depending upon what a user's personal references are - I think that's the best suggestion if it's not too much work. Filters like that already exist as browser addons though for those who really don't want to see any cussing on their internet.

I just think it's a gaggle of gossiping busybodies wanting to ruin other people's fun by stating that their way is the only way.

Ain't nobody got no time for that outside of Tumblr and Twitter.

Yes the cussing is what got my attention. Certain words for certain people...fuck that.

Who writes these rules and how far back in their family tree do I have to go to find a criminal?

When some see racism in one thing but not in another it could mean that they are institutionalized with their racism and are so entrenched in it that they cannot imagine they are being racist.

This is why reflection and being open to change is an important part of any leadership hierarchy that gets established here.

Profanity indicates a lack of respect for the audience and, usually, a limited intellect.

reply

I agree. That's why which words are sanctioned for use and which words aren't gives a look into the cultural bias of those trying to enforce their worldview on others.

reply

Not trying to enforce anything. You are free to shape your vocabulary as well as your reputation.

reply

And as are you. I'm looking out against those who don't share our healthy opinion towards self discovery and consequences of our actions. Those who claim to "Know better" and are expecting just to be trusted on their word.

Kudos to you as we all need hobbies. We are done here.

More "deep" thoughts.

...as far as you know.... We're done here.

Just use this and let people swear in peace.

I wasn't aware we had begun.....that's what she said!

LOL, apparently smart people don't say 'fuck', and millions of books and films released every year don't respect their audience!

@woody, let me clear something up for you. There is no "audience" in a discussion forum. There's only participants in a casual conversation. Now, you may believe that whenever you speak, those who listen are an "audience" to your charms, formal witnesses to history in the making, but that's just your ego.

People are not on stage here addressing a convention. Forums are causal conversation, an exchange of ideas in whatever style the contributor prefers. That includes colorful language if that's how it rolls.

We are done here.

reply

You are correct about one thing. I do believe that when I speak the audience is, at the very least, charmed, possibly even enraptured. Have a nice day....

reply

Really, you went there ? Trying to sound intelligent , pfft. !
I didn't swear, look at me . Do you get offended . Please block me!

reply

I figµred out how to do it on IMDb but never pµlled the trigger

reply

Yeah, RIGHT. Use April Fool's as the date back when you posted.
