What a concept, eh?
No idea what happens. Jim said he hadn't perfected the ignore feature, because there was such a high demand for it and he had to work fast. I'm not trying it until it's deemed safe by Jim ;)
I already added Ben, BenCaesar and God to my ignore list, it feels good.
Now I'm counting on Wilson to tune down the witch hunt a little and this website will be back to normal.
PS: C'mon people, don't ignore yourself.
So far I may only have BenCaesar on it. Forgot about Ben, and it seems wrong to put God on my ignore list, but hey, sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do, right?
Wilson's exploded into full-on troll mode, despite seeming to be relatively normal and reasonable up until recently. He or she is on my ignore list. Okay, so that's two I know of, with two more coming up. (I think they're all the same person anyway, along with a few other usernames.)
I just now put BenCaesar, who IMO is a stalker, and Wilson, who seems to have fallen in with the former, on Ignore. They have targeted you, cat. Their vile diatribe laced with profanity is unworthy and not needed on a discussion board.
For the Ignore button....I say....THANK YOU JIM!
Hi Ksp,
I agree, BenCaesar has stalked me to a few boards as well. So far Wilson hasn't stalked me, or anyone else I know of, but then due to his more recent behavior, I strongly suspect Wilson of being one of BC's sock accounts. Anyway, it sure is great having an ignore button, isn't it? I know they both targeted me, along with God, and Ben. It was all incredibly childish, yet consistent.
Ben or BenCaesar or whatever has been targeting me today too, along with his sidekick (sock) Wilson, saying I posted his email address, when all I did was make a joke back at him, as he'd dished out to someone else. I can't be bothered to track down his post and claim he was doxxing someone else. Not worth my time or energy. He may or may not have been actually doxxing someone else on MC, but I know I wasn't, and he knows it too.
Anyway, thanks for your post. Wish I could have responded to your post in the other thread, but I'm sure you understand why I didn't.
Yes, thank you Jim!!
lol why not ignore god? he has been ignoring the prayers of his children for millenniums....
sharebatman6 is going on mine right now! Time to clean house! ππ
shareStyxNynx, how do you ignore someone?
shareOn the bottom of the post (the one you wish to Ignore) look over to the right...next to the report flag.
shareWell ksp, I just did it but it put everyone else in the conversation on ignore too...not JUST batman6. Or I should say...it put the entire conversation I had with other people there on ignore. There's also no option to unignore it either. Everything nested in that conversation is gone for good. I guess Jim hasn't gotten all the bugs out yet. Think I'll postpone ignoring until it's perfected AND with the option of taking something or someone OFF ignore if I choose too...like IMDb had.
shareHi Styx :) Was Batman6 the OP of the thread? If yes, that's why the entire thread, and everyone on it, disappeared. Yeah, Jim said as of now there's no way to unignore anyone. I gather that'll be coming up soon, but he wanted to release this ASAP due to popular demand, or need.
shareHi Cat! π Yeah, I clicked on ignore lower down and it deleted that area on down. Then I just decided to go back and delete from the OP so it would get rid of the entire thread. I was able to save the convo that I was having with the other person though and just started a new thread so we could continue to build off that...without the likes of batman6.
I know this ignore feature is still in the works so I know it's got some more building to be done.
Hey Styx,
I like we can MINUS (edited) single posts only, unless the poster is a complete jerk then I could give a rat's patootie if I never see his/her posts again! Hear that BenCaesar (& your other aliases), and Wilson? I'm sure others will land in the Phantom Zone as the need arises. Profanity should be bleeped when posted and also in the quoted replies.
Hey ksp, Well, actually, it will ignore the entire branch or thread...or I should say, make it disappear...depending on what area of the thread you click on. So be careful to save any posts you don't want to lose.
Wilson's been good to me, I've had absolutely no probs with him and talk to him often so I won't be putting him on ignore, I have no reason to unless he acts up a lot...which I have yet to see. I'm pretty lenient on people unless they give me good reason to 86 them.
People like that Joe guy we had, (who has apparently been banned), who speaks one liners of profanity or racist slurs get ignored quickly by me...I see no reason to tolerate that if I don't have to. Other than that, I'm laid back for the most part. π
βWell ksp, I just did it but it put everyone else in the conversation on ignore too...not JUST batman6. Or I should say...it put the entire conversation I had with other people there on ignore. There's also no option to unignore it either.β
Dang, thanks for the heads up, good to know. I haven't used it yet, and probably only will in extreme cases, but that would be an unpleasant surprise to be sure. I was going to suggest that you might right click and open the βblockee'sβ profile and do it that way, but the ignore feature doesn't appear there.
So here is something you might try when the occasion arises. When the person in question starts up a new thread, and you just happen to catch it before anyone else has posted, block it right then and there. Jim will work the bugs out sooner or later, but in the mean time it's something to try.
Wanton, it actually just deletes everything in the branch or thread. So if you ignore the OP, it will delete the WHOLE thread. Or, if your ignore someone further down the thread, it will delete everything in that branch.
Yeah, I tried their profile but there is no ignore button on people's profiles yet. Maybe that will happen later, I don't know.
Exactly, if I catch it fresh it'll only ignore the OP. Or, I could ignore the I want to ignore closest to their last reply and it will preserve the rest of the thread from there on up...if their last reply is near the end.
Yes, it's a roll of the dice at this point.
βThink I'll postpone ignoring until it's perfected AND with the option of taking something or someone OFF ignore if I choose too...like IMDb had.β
Exactly what I was about to suggest. I'll wait until the bugs are worked out, but for me at this point there's no one that I feel the pressing need to block. Also, the threads I post in are older obscure shows, and don't draw much traffic in the first place.
Oh, for sure! You definitely don't want to ignore anyone in the oldies but goodies and lose all those precious posts! I'm glad I found out on a thread that was unimportant, so at least I didn't lose anything priceless. Even after I clicked ignore and my convo, with the other person disappeared, I hit the back button and it reappeared so I was able to CCP that particular convo and re-paste it in another thread and, now, can continue the convo. π
shareHey Ksp,
Thanks for your post to me on that other thread. I'd have responded to you, but I didn't want to bump it up again. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks.
Isn't it great that we now have so many of the old threads and posts back again? I love it! Plus, now an ignore button :)
MovieFan...read the reply I just left for kspkaps just above this reply.
shareAs funny as that is at least we can ignore others and that is what its primary function is for.
I'm in no rush but I heard friends lists were a common feature on IMDB. I take it they are the opposite of ignore lists?
I like the fact that report/ignore buttons are far away from "reply" button. Less chance of hitting the wrong button when you want to reply to someone.
