Prometheus. Went to cinema to see it and came out disappointed but then the more I thought about it, the more I liked it and upon rewatching it I enjoyed it much more and am looking forward to the next one to see what happened.

Me also :)

I want to see how David screwed things over for Elizabeth and if it explains what he said to the Engineer to piss him off so much.

reply

Well unless he was the writer of the storyline or understood the ancient language there is no way of knowing what he said at this point.

Mostly they are taking David's word that the Engineers were bad to begin with and wanted to destroy earth. I think the only reason they would destroy earth is if their experiment went wrong (ie produced a nasty bit of work like David, who seems to have his own agenda going on).

I tend to think that he said something along the lines of they had come to wipe the Engineers out.

I don't think the the engineers were bad or making weapons there and that the mixing of the black stuff with the small creatures on the planet is what went wrong. It was never meant to mix with other species.

The Engineer at the very beginning gives his own life to create life on the planet. Why then would theywant to destroy that creation unless it turned out bad? The Engineer's reaction when he wakes and sees them isn't one of hate to begin with until David speaks to him.

reply

oooo me too! can't wait to see more Xenomorphs.

reply

Yes - have to find out how Prometheus xenomorph turns into the Alien xenomorph.

reply

Indeed!!!

reply

Oooooo...I didn't know there was a sequel coming! And Guy Pearce is in it too!! I'm definitely gonna watch it! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I better give the first one another watch and pay close attention to it this time. I didn't care much for it the first time but I'm sure I'll like it better with a re-watch.

Oh, just read that it's coming to theatres on May 19th...just in case you don't know.

reply

Oh great, I thought it wasn't coming out till October?

reply

Yeah, I'm glad that, keyboard, mentioned it, I might have never known about it otherwise.

Nope, I Googled it and it definitely says "May 19th"...everywhere! I'm totally thrilled!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Here's a link with the date and a great trailer. Alien: Covenant

reply

Yeah Prometheus got a lot of hate when it first came out. I'm one of the odd ones though, I liked the movie right off the bat. It certainly had flaws (the worst being the running straight away from the rolling ship lol) but overall very exciting to watch.

reply

Yes that was so stupid. Long object falling towards you and you carry on running directly in it's path instead of changing direction to the side. Dumbest thing ever!

reply

I saw it once and was not enthused. I have it taped now, so I plan on watching it again before the next movie coming out in October.

reply

I dunno, this sounds more like dating a crazy but beautiful woman... recognizing the crazy but being so beguiled by her beauty that you keep coming back for more.

reply

NausicaΓ€ of the Valley of the Wind. The first time I watched it, I was with this really drunk dude who couldn't stop commenting on how awesome the movie was. So it really turned me off to it. Much later I watched it again by myself and got to really understand what it was all about.

No movie coming into my mind in an instant. More the other way around. A lot of movies I came out of the theatre, full of euphoria because of the cinematic experience and dissapointed the second time.

reply

There are so many like that! One that really sticks out is the movie Twister. The special effects are so fun and exciting (with an excellent soundtrack), and it expertly hides the fact there isn't really much plot or acting haha!

reply

Exactly! Once you extract the special effects only working in theatres there is often not much substance left.

reply

Matrix. I thought it was "meh" the first time I saw it. On second viewing I realized it's a good movie.

reply

[deleted]

I'm with you, Apis. I felt completely lost, and shunned it for years, and liked it much more the 2nd and 3rd time.

reply

I can't think of any off the top of my head that I saw and didn't like, then liked upon seeing it again.

There were a few movies that I saw the previews and thought it wasn't worth it, but was pleasantly surprised upon seeing it. For example: The Emperor's New Groove and Meet the Robinsons.

reply

Van Helsing and the Mummy. I used to really hate CGI, but when I finally came to embrace it, those movies are a LOT of fun.

And i've really grown to love the Prequel Trilogy. Haha, shoot me. But I was one of biggest haters of those movies when they were released.

reply

[deleted]

The Star Wars prequels.

Yeah, LXG is dope. I think the world just felt like hating something that year.

reply

I'll tell you what. I hate almost all new comedies when I see them. They just seem to never meet my expectations and rub me the wrong way. But once I get used to them I usually end up enjoying them quite a bit. I guess maybe I need to hear a joke a few times to appreciate it.

reply

[deleted]

OMG I hate that show, but it's syndicated so much I ended up watching it and now... it's not so bad.

reply

I loathe all comedy movies except for the classic ones. I can't e bothered with new ones. Nor, do I like comedy TV. Only those classics do I like ,too. Dick van Dyke, I Love Lucy, etc. Seinfeld my absolute favorite. And I can tell you why. Believe me I am NOT a prude but I do not like potty humor, T&A comments, or even more disgusting "humor" in my media enjoyment. I am a hard core horror fan and sex and gore go hand and hand . I like it there, but for some reason I do not like it any where else.
Older comedies had real comedy.

reply

I'm with you on the comedy movies/shows lennon. I'm just not a big comedy fan. But, I DO love the classic comedy shows, such as you mentioned, they're all good. I Love Lucy is probably my favourite, she always cracks me up...every single time! I love Sanford & Son, All in the Family, Three's Company, and many other older comedy shows. The new stuff these days, I just don't like any of it as far as comedy goes. I don't think I like any from the 2000's at all, just mostly from the 70's and older is all I like.

I'm also a big horror fan but not so much for the gory, slasher films anymore. I'm more into creepy, supernatural and psychological thrillers...but I DO watch other genres too, just not as often.

reply

Comedy lost me the moment American Pie came along. I just didn't get what people were laughing at anymore.

reply

I don't know that show.

reply

It's a film lennon, and has 6 sequels.

I'm pretty sure they made a TV show of it too...but not positive.

reply

Nope...I found nothing funny about it either. If a comedy show/film doesn't give me a good laugh, and I laugh easily, then it hasn't done it's job and is, therefore, deemed worthless...IMO.

reply

yeah, pretty much ANY horror is my thing. My favorite is werewolves! I love home invasion, slashers not so much possession nor ghosts.

reply

Those comedies you mentioned were superlative.

reply

Thank you lennon. There's a lot more B&W and colour one's but the one's I named were the first one's off the top of my head. Speaking of which, here's a couple more B&W shows I love, The Andy Griffith Show and Mister Ed.

reply

Absolutely loved those ,too. I watched them all.

reply

I STILL watch them! Can't even count how many times I've watched all of those shows...lol.

reply

I don't hate the movies in general ,but i give You one example :as a tomb raider games fan i'm dissapointed by the movie adaptations because it's seems like i watch a James bond movie ,not a tomb raider ,the only thing that had in common was the name :Lara Croft
