UPDATE: Report button

I've been noticing a few trolls around here lately so I've added a report button at the bottom of each post. You can click the report button to alert our team of moderators (currently just me) of any suspicious activity. (Note: I'll be making a separate post about moderator recruitment shortly.)

There are currently no hard and fast rules on what can/can't be said, so just use common sense. As I've said before, I strongly believe in free speech and want to encourage discussion in any and all forms. Thus, please only use the report button sparingly in cases of clear and obvious trolls.

I've also added a "jump to latest reply" button at the top of each post. Sometimes when there are lots of nested replies, it can be difficult to find the latest reply. By clicking this handy button, you can jump straight to the latest reply in a thread.

More updates on the way!

Jim

And so it shall be.

It is written...

Please don't make moderators. They have ruined IMDb2 and they will ruin this place too.

reply

Maybe they picked the wrong guys to be moderators, like site owner's friends. Nepotism is what probably ruined that site.

reply

Common sense is the way for the boards.

reply

or maybe automated moderation. like if a post gets 10-20 unique ip reports, then delete that post.

reply

PS: Jim: can we report your posts....for FANTASTIC - NESS ? ? ?

: )

Moderators of imdb2 proboards are abusing power. We don't want to see something similar here. Their friends get them to delete people they don't like or agree with. IMDb was great because the moderation was automated

(nose in air) Well, to even IMPLY that the type of member HERE is anything like the posters THERE . . . ! !

no human moderation is always a bad idea.

I've found that the word "always" doesn't often neatly fit into human life...

AND you forget, we have God (ie, you) on our side.

reply

All messageboards with human moderation have draconian class room like environment.

reply

Very true. It's why I loved IMDB boards so much. Are you on any other boards that are not human moderated?

Seriously, just take a live example of what i am talking about. Register at imdb2 proboard and say something about hindus for example. one of the moderators there is a hindu and he banned me for criticizing hinduism lol

his name is Aj_June

<< Register at imdb2 proboard and... >>

Why, I wouldn't go to that filthy outpost of #%@#&*s for . . . Listen, the only place I want to see them is on a softball field or a bowling lane, where we teach those beastly little upstarts a lesson once and for ALL!
.

reply

That's good. Everyone should abandon that place and come here. It is like 100 people there anyhow

reply

Aces, Jim!

reply

I think if moderators are added here, posts that are flagged should be reviewed by three separate moderators to see if they all agree that's it's offensive or a troll post.

reply

Still not good. Human moderation is always biased.

reply

That's actually a good idea. And if there is a discrepancy, have more look at it. Depending on how many mods there are, anyway.

reply

Nobody wrote this so I will:

We have Lansbury, folks!

Lol... someone had to say it. Great job, Jim 👍

reply

hahaha!

reply

Yes! Haha!

Good deal Jim, I'm glad to hear this. I was beginning to grow concerned for some of the calls that I've seen already for heavy moderation. I think that the block/ignore features, combined with the report post feature for really over the top type posts, is the way to go, and one thing that I thought that IMDB got right.

The "jump to latest reply" button is awesome!

Thanks!

Heavy moderation will end this site. IMDb2 is doing heavy moderation and its losing users real quick
