I'm curious--why do people on this board see fit to shill on other sites? I'm at IMDB2, and every day I read shilling/trolling posts over there by people encouraging others to come here. Is that your policy and something you encourage?
shareWe're trying to bring attention to this site, to let people know the site exists so they can come here. It's possible that some people do it over-enthusiastically in ways that irritate people, but their intentions are good. This site isn't at the top of Google searches and it isn't able to advertise here and there. It's just getting started and it needs new people. I came here because people kept talking about it on Facebook. Word of mouth is what's gonna get this thing going. So that's what people are doing.

This person could very well have been a troll, but my feeling is that this is just a post from someone who was encouraging people to join IMDB2 at a time when we were all searching for a good site. Mrs. Taggart may have found a site that suited her/him better.

I don't! I've gotten over the IMDb shutdown. I have looked around at a few sites. I have even registered at another one before I registered here five months ago. Some have found another site that suits them better. They may have reconnected with old friens. It happens.
There is no competition here. I can't imagine why there should be any competition between any of these sort of sites.
You can join several sites if you like to talk to various people......
Me? I prefer discussing films and shows on this site.

shareI came here originally because I thought it was something new. And yes, I was on the IMDB2 board and still am, under a different name. I stayed there because it was more interesting, but the truth is, the board has deteriorated into a forum for the inane and just plain dumb. Topics like, "dryer lint, what's the point?" "Do you ever play with yourself" or "What's your favorite planet" have swayed the site away from its original intent and is pretty much a playground for the crazies.
Is it any wonder that they've lost half their membership since March? I give it until December, and then it will have been whittled down to a few occasional posters.
Just like this place. There's nothing interesting here. That's why I only pop in once in a while, and just to read.

Yes, any thread with any serious discussion will eventually die or be prey to the crazies. At IMDB2, there are threads like, "someone's speaking Mexican right now" and "Look how big it is!" Just nuts. In the old days, I could go to the IMDB and really discuss movies and TV shows. Not anymore, neither here nor there. Only a matter of time before both boards implode.

shareok, i think i created profiles on all of these sites when Imdb was shutting down(yea, i basically feel imdb is shut down, cos i dont visit it anymore, cos its just any other site now).
but i prefer this site cos, well, its letting me open the site and do this, while im at work :)
none of the other sites open for me at my workplace, as they are all blocked. Not sure whats the criteria, but, hey, just for that, this site gets my thumbs up
