What was the last movie you watched?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016)

I watched Les Miserables (the newer one) last weekend. Been awhile since I saw it before then. It was especially interesting since now I recognized Wolverine, Bellatrix Lesstrange, and Newt Scamander out of context. Of course, all the songs have been stuck in my head off and on.

Hostile Border, this morning. Saturday morning it was Under the Same Moon. Completely different styles of films dealing with the illegal immigration issue. Perceived this as a timely, somewhat uncanny coincidence, given the current political climate.

I saw A Dog's Purpose and I really loved it.

Double Indemnity. For about the 20th time. Best film noir ever made.

Big screen: Sully

My home tv: Chariots of Fire

reply

Chariots of Fire had a profoundly emotional effect on me when I first saw it in the early 80's because I was both a distance runner and very devout at that time, living in a college town.

Same here, db20db, I love this movie. The first time I saw it I was a teenager and I didn't quite appreciate how powerful the message is. I've watched it so many times. It's a great movie.

reply

Can you describe the nature of this ‘profound emotional effect’ or were you a total pus wad 6 years ago like you still are today?

The Nice Guys (2016)

I saw Diabolique (1996) last night. Am watching BunMan: The Untold Story (1993) at the moment.

There is a better adaptation of the original that was made for TV in the 1970's, called REFLECTIONS OF MURDER. It stars Tuesday Weld, Sam Waterston and Joan Hackett, if you can find it.

It seemed like a perfect cast....but Isabelle Adjani is just kind of boring and remote in it : ( I remember Sharon Stone as being perfect for the part, but the story just didn't have that much punch, the way they did it.

The acting in the 70's version is really good...and it's basically about three characters, so when you have a strong trio that meshes well together....that's 3/4 of it.

Are you a Tuesday Weld fan? She's a very interesting and naturalistic cult figure...because she turned down SO MANY famous roles.

reply

Oh sorry...I just noted who I was replying to : ( Of COURSE you're well aware of who Tuesday Weld is!!!

reply

OH! It's on YouTube!! Well, I know what I'll be watching next!

I (heart) Tuesday Weld!

Wanted to stay and chat with y'all all evening, but had to leave to go watch "Poltergeist." Priorities, dontcha know.

The last two I saw before that were also hugely popular, between 35 and 42 years old, and movies of which I had been aware since they came out but had never actually seen till now.
