What would be the name of your network?
Yesterday I was thinking it would be great to have a channel for old school Saturday morning cartoons. I guess I would call the network SMC and on the channel I would have Eeek extravaganza, Bobby's World, C Bear & Jamal, Moo Mo Mesa, and etc.
That's a good question. I would probably create a music channel. It would have music videos from every decade, live concerts, and some fun game shows involving music. Rather than just focusing on mainstream music, I'd also have shows that featured independent artists. I'd love to get all the old MTV VJ's like Ananda Lewis, Matt Pinfield, etc. to host the shows.

would broadcast vintage TV "Movies of the Week" from their heyday in the 1970s,
plus old comedy-variety shows of the past. Friday and Saturday nights would be
packed with classic horror films (especially the really cheesy ones), introduced by a live-action host dressed up as a vampire or a mad scientist type. Sunday evening would have a foreign film program. Daytimes would be full of kiddie shows
with live-action hosts, who would present classic cartoons and comedy shorts with
the Little Rascals, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, the Three Stooges, etc. The host would make sure to explain to the kiddies about the un-PC elements of some of the old films, plus warn them about how not to hit each other over the head with hammers and poke each other in the eye the way Moe, Larry and Curly always did. The afternoon might have some "Dark Shadows" type soap opera. The station would go off the air
every night with a recording of "The Star-Spangled Banner," followed by an hour or
so of a test pattern. Then the day would begin all over again with some cartoon shows.

I had an idea once: a slot dedicated to pop songs of the 1970s/1980s which could have been hits, but weren't. There must have been a lot of good groups which could have made it big, but didn't.

shareI'd watch that, and I have a suggestion: it is possible to also have anthology series on the network? Could be classics or new ones, either way it's about time someone bring back the anthology series (a genre which is the absolute antithesis of what is popular today)

I'm not American but I can think of plenty of interesting ideas for US networks:
The Kinescope Network. Dedicated to shows from the late-1940s to early 1970s that were recorded as kinescope recordings. Along with US kinescopes, they could also show British and Australian programs recorded as telerecordings.
Game Show Channel. What "GSN" used to be.
The Silent Network. A channel dedicated to silent films.
Foreign Classic Television. Classic TV from non-English speaking countries.
The Short Film Channel. A channel dedicated to short films ranging from every period in cinema.
Worst Films Ever Made Channel. Admit it: Many people would watch a channel dedicated to really awful movies along the lines of "Plan 9 From Outer Space".
The 1930s Channel. 1930s films. Duh. Throw in some 1930s newsreels, home movies taken in the 1930s (yes, some people actually did that, though it was expensive), hell they could even show 1930s German TV programming (some of which survives to this day because it was filmed instead of being live).
Fireplace Channel. You know the "Yule Log" that appears on a New York City station? Well, an entire channel of something like that.
TV on Shuffle. Exactly. TV on shuffle. You never know what to expect next.
The Shinto Channel. Every religion has its own channel except the Shinto religion...though I admit such a channel would largely consist of anime series like "InuYasha"....
The Classic Commercial Channel. Classic, retro commercials. I'd watch that.
TV Movies of the 20th Century Channel. TV movies produced and shown during the 20th Century.
I know of these suggestions are good and some are very questionable, I hope somebody finds one of them to be interesting.

I had another idea, but it's very silly: "The Lucy Channel". It would include the various Lucy series ("I Love Lucy", "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour", "The Lucy Show", "Here's Lucy" and "Life with Lucy"), Lucille Ball's specials, other TV programs featuring Lucy, films with Lucy....but that's not all. It would also include "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show", "I Married Joan", "December Bride", "Laverne and Shirley", "Marge and Jeff" and other "Lucy"-type shows. It would also feature the 1930s/1940s screwball comedies which inspired "I Love Lucy".
I know it's a very silly idea, but still...
