There were a lot of crap in the 80s and MV was a shiny nugget of goodness. It's gotta be one of the first tv shows to start looking like a feature film, add in the cool music and action and it became the seminal show for every cop show that came after it.
shareIn re-watching Season 2, I actually discovered an episode I don't care for: 'Whatever Works' the one with the dirty South Beach cops and Santeria. I just don't think it has much urgency or life to it, like the dirty cop deal should've been a subplot to a larger story. The music is good, but other than John Taylor and Eartha Kitt, there isn't much to the guest stars either. Now 'Tale of the Goat', I think that episode is awesome.
