Would 1960s America accepted JFK if the bullet hadn't killed him but left him paralyzed instead?

My mom said she knew he was a cripple early on because of his involvement with Warm Springs GA. How common the knowledge was, I couldn't say. I personally think he was so popular in 1936 it wouldn't have mattered; in 1932... good question.

Maybe seen as strong for surviving and exterminating how the rest of his term went he could pull it off.
