From the progressives? Did everyone forget what autism is all of a sudden?
Im seeing an uptick on autism-shaming. Its really fkn weird.
It's whatever fits the narrative of the day. Just like they're always champions of diversity until a black person votes republican.
shareAside of the fact I haven't seen any such bashing, the research does not yet have conclusive results where autism comes from.
It appears to be a mixture of different things that can lead to an underdevelopped brain, from mothers eating unhealthy food, smoking or drinking during pregnancy, air pollution the mother breathes in during pregnancy and genetic defects.
All of the above could be solved with just a few modifications in society.
Pregnant women could get better support from social services to be able to afford healthy food, the health care system could cover treatment for addictions like tobacco and alcohol, environmental policies could reduce air pollution and less nationalism/tribalism could reduce the risk of genetic defects from parents whos genes are too close to one another.
All of these are demands the progressives have, so (even though I haven't seen any bashing) I can imagine why at least some parts of the progressives might see all of this as the fault of conservatives.
