What the heck is Trump doing accepting this negotiation? He knows that Mexico is our enemy and sends thousands of immigrants illegally into our country. He should not back down from this even a tiny bit... He needs to also impose at least 50% too, to show that America First ,eans business.

There's no amount of troops or walls at the border that could prevent a single one of them.
An obligation to carry an ID card and to show it to the police upon request would do that, but that's not even discussed in American politics.
Trump claimed the tariffs were mostly to prevent fentanyl smuggling, but almost 90% of all fentanyl smugglers are US citizens.
