Should we ban X links on Moviechat.org?

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Reddit continues to be an absolute embarrassment with this overly dramatic, blatantly astroturfed, unbelievably pathetic narrative pushing, virtue signaling, censorious bullshit.

It's satisfying to see the left hasn't learned a single lesson from their crushing loss, and are making all the same mistakes again. Yes yes, further insulate yourself into echochamber bubbles - that'll surely work out well.

What has this to do with with banning X links here?

Are you actually trying to make me explain blatant sarcasm to you?

You probably saw that title and salivated at the prospect, didn't you? πŸ˜‚

reply

Sorry, it didn't come across sarcastic to me, or at least the point wasn't clear enough

You probably saw that title and salivated at the prospect, didn't you? πŸ˜‚

Not really, since I could never see it happening,

reply

I give nothing but praise to Moviechat for being old school in their forum mentality, and for not being ran by totally cucked out leftists.

reply

The net is full of increasingly unpleasant right wing echo chambers, so you have plenty of choice. Fortunately I am a fly who likes ointments.

reply

Plenty of which were created because the left straight up bans opposing viewpoints from the platforms they control. πŸ˜‚

I don't see the right pushing for leftist viewpoints or links from other sites to be removed on X for instance, and the right had no issue co-existing with the left on Reddit... until most of the right leaning subs were banned, that is.

reply

I think what you meant to say was that, until the current Libertarian political tide rose, most responsible sites attempted to spot and control hate speech and misinformation on their platforms. Now, in the US at least, political expediency is more important.

reply

"control hate speech and misinformation" - alright filmflaneur, my troll senses are tingling. My respect meter will certainly have spiked for your existence here if that implication is correct.

reply

That’s because flimflam is a leftoid gatekeeping drone for the regime.

reply

That it is what sites like Facebook and X have done. Replacing such quality controls with 'community notes' is not the same thing at all and results in inaccuracies with people in effect marking their own homework. On X the cesspit it has become has led to an exodus of advertisers and users - although the alt-Right, no surprise, now flourishes there.

reply

Yes yes, how interesting that right-leaning ideals seem to flourish in an open marketplace when they're not being actively suppressed. πŸ˜‚

reply

If by the 'right leaning ideals' which seem to flourish you mean hate speech and misinformation, they I entirely agree.

reply

I almost experienced a troll-sense overload from this comment, and my respect meter for your existence momentarily spiked. Then I realized that you might actually be serious and a deep depression started to sink in. I have a heart, filmflaneur - don't make me pity you.

reply

Patronising noted.

reply

Sadness at the core of my very being, regretfully noted. 😞

reply

Whatever.

reply

its still run by cucked out leftists which is why during Trumps first term, it was deemed a bannable offense to post on the Trump boards and its still ok to make jokes about wanting Trump to die on MC.

reply

Abstract thinking appears to be a lost art.

reply

Indeed. On this board most thinking appears to be popularist, born of the alt-Right echo-sphere where it has its roots purely in the emotional and tribal.

reply

Projection is another popular pastime on this site...

reply

Yes, I have seen that a lot.

reply

Right over your drone head ... you were the one projecting in your previous reply.

reply

Wrong again.

This looks like as good a place to share a pet peeve as any. Since this is a discussion board, I'm not a fan of posts that contain zero discussion, except for a link, especially as an OP. How about you discuss something, rather than expecting us the readers having to click a link and read someone else's words, or worse, watch a video? It's lazy, and gets zero engagement from me.

This of course does not apply to @nyctc7, whose YT link replies I know will usually be an appropriate and funny Seinfeld clip.

reply

I feel this way about the birthday announcement posts. Half the actors it’s all that’s under their name.

reply

TMC-4 is one of the worst offenders for this. The clown who dreamt he was a bot (and loved it) scrapes the net for whatever pushes a particular narrative and proceeds to expel these nasty little dumplings across the site.

Random Reddit post or some trash-tier site no one has ever heard of? It all gets cobbled together into these filthy astroturfed trash heaps which he/it feels compelled to subject the rest of us to.

reply

Yeah, that does get really annoying, seeing a post, and it just leads to a link with no other context. Not everyone wants to watch a youtube video or read an outside article. It's easier if the poster adds something to the link, explaining what it is, and encouraging others to say something about it.
