Jeff Gray finds poll workers unwilling to allow transparency

Long story short, Mr. Gray is well-established throughout the Southeast United States in the field of testing public officials' adherence to laws and regulations that govern their jobs. Some would call him an "auditor" but there is no shortage of clowns that engage in that activity, and I'd hate to see Jeff get tarred with the same brush.

Here he attempts to observe a polling place prior to and after the conclusion of polling, which, as he shows with the relevant statute, is completely legal. What is he met with? A complete chimp out by poll workers, police are called, doors are slammed shut, and threats made.

This takes place in Jacksonville, FL., and as Jeff comments, isn't intended to implicate either political party, but illustrates the contempt that poll workers often have for the public and the potential for fraud that exists when no one is allowed to hold poll workers and the electoral process accountable. Believe me, Jeff didn't just get lucky by finding the one polling place where the workers value secrecy over transparency. This is an endemic problem. He's come across similar problems year after year at polling places. And even when poll workers are confronted with printed copies of the laws that govern their responsibilities, they are generally apt to ignore the law and enforce their feelings.
